Elect Jason Poulos to Congress!

Massachusetts Peace Action endorses Jason Poulos for Congress in Congressional District 4.

Poulos, an AI researcher and Sherborn resident who is challenging incumbent Jake Auchincloss, has an uncompromisingly progressive and pro-peace platform. He supports many wide-ranging social and economic justice issues. He focuses on the displacement threat to the workforce posed by AI that he sees Congress ignoring. He supports Medicare for All on clearly defined economic and moral grounds. He has been endorsed by many groups including the Newton area group Sawa, the Foxoboro Democratic Town Committee, the nonprofit group Organize for Peace, Citizens Against AIPAC Corruption and Progressive Democrats of America.

Poulos’ foreign policy positions are closely aligned with MAPA’s. On Palestine, he supports an embargo on all lethal aid to Israel, promotes Rep. Tlaib’s resolution recognizing the genocide, and believes that arming Israel as it commits human rights abuses puts U.S. in violation of the Leahy Law. He wants to cut the $1.1 Trillion Pentagon budget and lists the budget tradeoffs that the projected $200 Billion cost of the Iran War could fund instead. He supports McGovern’s nuclear disarmament resolution and HALT that would freeze nuclear testing and deployment now that the New START treaty has expired. He recognizes U.S. foreign policy as the main driver of the migration crisis, the necessity of abolishing ICE, and cooperation with China as the only way to solve the existential challenges we face. He believes the US should stop flooding Ukraine with weapons and aggressively pursue a diplomatic settlement with Russia. He is sharply critical of Auchincloss’ voting record that goes against the wishes of the Democratic base, connecting it to his big money and corporate donations from sources like Palantir, the pharmaceutical industry and, of course, AIPAC.

Jason Poulos is running a “people-powered” campaign and is confident that robust, grassroots support can, “out-organize the establishment at the doors”. He proudly maintains his campaign can take on Auchincloss through small, individual donations averaging $35, an admittedly ambitious plan given Auchincloss’ massive campaign war chest.

With an enthusiastic following of activists, young millennials, and GenZers who thirst for an authentic progressive in Congress, Poulos’ campaign has been gaining undeniable momentum. He has held multiple public events and been actively canvassing in cities and towns all around the district. MAPA activists have been encouraging him to more directly challenge Auchincloss and, as a pro-peace candidate, call out the over $1 Million he has received from the AIPAC network and his uncompromising support for Israel. A recent editorial in the Boston Globe chastised Auchincloss for ignoring Poulos’ repeated invitations to debate and failing to “match up with his most serious contender to date.”
