Intern with Massachusetts Peace Action.
MAPA works with students who want hands-on experience in organizing, advocacy, communications, legislative work, research, and movement-building.

Internship Details
Hands-on experience in peace movement work
Interns work with MAPA staff, issue teams, and volunteers on campaign support, communications, events, legislative action, organizing, and public education.
At least 30 hours per week for at least 3 months. Stipend: $350 per month.
At least 10 hours per week for at least 10 weeks. Stipend: $750 on completion.
Fall: September to December. Spring: February to May. Summer: May to August.
The internship works best for students with flexible schedules who can set regular office hours and occasionally attend evening or weekend programs.

Each track is practical. Interns should expect real support work, regular communication, and a small-team nonprofit environment.
Campaign Intern
Join a campaign organizing group and help with planning, publicity, communications, organizing, and advocacy.

Legislative Intern
Support MAPA’s legislative agenda through research, outreach, scorecards, lobby meetings, and supporter communications.

Media Intern
Help MAPA communicate through social media, web content, newsletters, news releases, photography, video, and digital campaigns.
- Write e-alerts and articles

Organizing / Fundraising Intern
Support donor outreach, fundraising events, campus organizing, grant research, and relationship-building with allied groups.

- Assist fundraising events
- Organize a campus Peace Action club

All Interns
What interns do
- Work with MAPA staff and other interns.
- Join at least one issue-specific working group.
- Assist with outreach, tabling, mailings, data entry, vigils, rallies, and office tasks.
- Attend, assist, and learn at MAPA-sponsored events.
- Read a book on one MAPA issue and report on it during the term.
You Should Bring
What MAPA looks for
- Commitment to grassroots organizing for progressive social change.
- Understanding of U.S. militarism and its global and domestic effects.
- Strong writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Desire to work as part of a small grassroots team.
- Schedule flexibility for some nights, weekends, or holidays.
