Elect Erika Uyterhoeven for Human Rights

When Erika Uyterhoeven was the only Massachusetts legislator willing to file a bill calling for divestment of the Mass. state pension plan from companies providing Israel with the weapons it uses to carry on its genocide, Christine Barber was no nowhere to be found.

Now Barber makes it very clear that she will not deal with international issues because they can be divisive – that she will focus only with what she considers state issues.

But genocide is a state issue when our state is complicit in that genocide: whether by state investments supporting the genocide; when Massachusetts state legislators make propaganda trips to Israel paid for by Israeli lobbyists (to be thanked personally by Netanyahu for their support); when the Mass. State legislators create a commission that conflates strong criticism of Israel with anti-semitism and promotes this preposterous perspective on anti-semitism in our elementary schools.

While Erika works just as hard on what Christine Barber calls considers state issues, she has a wider and more courageous perspective that confronts our state’s ongoing complicity in the issue of our day: the attempted obliteration of a whole people.
