Stop the Madness at Gillette Stadium

Sat September 26 @ 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

Yes, I'll Be There

Saturday, September 26

2:30 PM | Route 1 to Gillette Stadium, Foxborough

Gather at the Southeast Corner of Route 1 and North Street for Signs and Flyers

The September 26 action in Foxborough is part of the statewide Stop the Madness in Washington mobilization, with related demonstrations taking place in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, and other communities.

The Foxborough action will also focus on the controversy surrounding Ed Sheeran’s concerts at Gillette Stadium.

Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft has acknowledged his role in opposing Macklemore’s appearance at the stadium after the rapper used his performances to speak out about Palestine. Macklemore was subsequently removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour. Other performers, including FINNEAS, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe, and Beoga, withdrew from the tour in solidarity.

Ed Sheeran has said that removing Macklemore was not his decision and that the decision ultimately rested with promoters and venues.

For organizers of the Foxborough demonstration, the controversy raises another issue that fits directly into the broader September 26 mobilization: the growing power of billionaires and powerful institutions to shape both our politics and the boundaries of public debate.

The statewide Stop the Madness actions are addressing war and militarism abroad and the concentration of wealth and power at home, including U.S. policy toward Palestine, Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba; enormous military spending; attacks on immigrants and civil liberties; climate destruction; and the increasing influence of billionaire wealth over public life.

The Foxborough demonstration will bring those concerns directly to Gillette Stadium as thousands arrive for the Ed Sheeran concert.

Other Stop the Madness Actions on Saturday September 26th:

12:00 PM | Park Street, Boston

10:30 am | Big E Fair, West Springfield.  Gather at 175 Memorial Dr, W Springfield

Enough.

Enough of criminal wars, genocide, and the enormous profits flowing to war contractors and oil companies.’

Enough of policies that are devastating communities at home and abroad—from Iran, Palestine, Venezuela and Cuba to our own neighborhoods.

Enough to the power of the Israeli lobby over our lives.

Enough of spending trillions on war while families struggle with the rising costs of food, housing, energy, healthcare, childcare, transportation, and education.

Enough of the assault on our country: ICE raids, Racism, Climate destruction, mass surveillance, and government increasingly shaped by billionaire wealth.

Enough of Emperor Donald and his courtiers in D.C.

We insist that human needs, peace, justice, democracy, and a livable planet be placed ahead of endless war and corporate profit.
