Promoting Public Investment in our Schools

The attacks from the Trump/McMahon and their MAGA allies on our K-12 public schools continue unabated. The cuts in the federal Dept of Education will impact almost every school district in the nation.

Our Books Not Bombs Committee will continue working with AFT, AFTMA and the MTA as part of their national campaigns to protect our local public schools.

The next Zoom Teach-in will be Sunday, September 13, 7 – 8:15 pm.

– Welcome & connection to national AFT campaign – Andrew King (MTA & Books Not Bombs);

– MA Resistance to proposed voucher programs – Lisa Guisbond (Citizens for Public Schools);

– DESE proposals re high stakes testing – Kathy Greeley (Cambridge Retired Educators United));

– Cambridge Educators Association contract negotiations (TBD);

– Exorbitant war and nuclear  weapons budgets will impact local school districts (Jonathan King).
