At a time when so many of us are frustrated by the seemingly intractable vice-grip that corporate power has on our institutions, we have an opportunity to elect someone who is committed to putting the interests of We the People first. That is why I support Craig Swallow to represent Massachusetts’ 9th Congressional District in Congress.
What first drew me to Craig Swallow was not just his policy positions, (craigswallowforcongress.com) but his character. He speaks with sincerity, listens to people’s concerns, and approaches public service with the belief that elected officials should answer to their constituents—not to powerful special interests.
Craig Swallow understands that one of the biggest challenges facing working families is affordability. Too often, the rising cost of housing, health care, utilities, and everyday necessities is treated as an unavoidable fact of life. Craig argues that it isn’t. He believes affordability means confronting the corporate power that allows monopolies and dominant companies to drive up prices while ordinary people struggle to make ends meet.
His willingness to challenge monopoly utilities and powerful corporate interests reflects a simple principle: the government should protect people, not profits. Rather than accepting a system where large corporations have outsized influence over public policy, Craig believes elected leaders should fight for competition, accountability, and an economy that works first and foremost for working families.
Health care is an issue close to my heart, having diligently worked for years, unsuccessfully, for passage of Single-Payer healthcare in Massachusetts. Craig Swallow shares this passion. He supports Medicare for All because he believes access to health care should be a right, not a privilege determined by employment or income. No family should have to choose between paying medical bills and paying rent, and no one should delay seeking care because they fear the cost. A healthier society begins with ensuring that every person can receive the care they need, including transcare. Craig believes LGBTQ rights and womens’ rights are human rights. “Freedom means having control over your own body, your identity, and your future.”
Craig also brings a principled perspective to foreign policy. He believes the United States should uphold human rights and international law consistently and apply the same standards to all nations. He supports ending U.S. military arms sales to Israel and to any country found responsible for genocide or war crimes, arguing that American foreign policy should reflect our nation’s commitment to human dignity, a policy that upholds our own national laws and international law.
Craig Swallow’s campaign reflects a belief that public office is about serving the people, speaking honestly; it’s about government transparency, accountability and accessibility, and making decisions based on conscience rather than political convenience.His vision — an economy that puts people before corporate interests, universal health care, and a foreign policy guided by human rights—offers a clear alternative for those of us who believe our government should be upholding the lives and human dignity of peoples both at home and abroad.
This election is about deciding what kind of leadership we want in Washington. If we want someone who is prepared to challenge the status quo, to stand up to concentrated corporate power, fight for universal health care, and advocate for a foreign policy grounded in human rights and moral consistency, then Craig Swallow deserves our support.
