Violence, Love and Hope in Israel-Palestine

Sari Bashi, internationally renowned human rights lawyer and the executive director of the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel. Sari lives in a mixed Israeli-Palestinian family, which is the subject of her new memoir, Upside-Down Love. Sari will share her perspective on the ceasefire in Gaza, the escalating violence in the West Bank, and the opportunities emerging for transformative change.

Sari is the executive director of the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel and the co-founder and former executive director of Gisha-Legal Center for Freedom of Movement, the Israeli human rights organization promoting freedom of movement for Palestinians in Gaza. She previously served as program director for Human Rights Watch, leading the organization’s global research, and as research director at Democracy for the Arab World Now, where she’s currently a fellow. She’s an expert in international humanitarian law and writes a blog about raising her children in the West Bank. Her book, a love story in two voices, describes how she and her Palestinian spouse met, fell in love and made it work, against the odds and against Israeli law.
