Israel Divestment Bill

The Israel Divestment Bill (H.2984), or “An Act relative to pension divestment from companies providing military equipment to the State of Israel,” is sponsored by Rep. Uyterhoeven. The bill has been referred to the Joint Committee on Public Service.

As some of the top weapons manufacturers that deal weapons to Israel have facilities here in Massachusetts and are linked to the Pension Reserves Investment Management Board (PRIM), the state is complicit in the genocide and apartheid in Palestine. It is time to end this state involvement through divestments.

The Israel Divestment Bill would require PRIM to divest from companies involved in weapons sales to Israel, such as RTX (formerly Raytheon). If a weapons company were to not renew or enter a weapons deal with Israel within 30 days of the bills passing, they will not be impacted by this legislation.
