We Say “Enough”: Let Cuba Live

THE PEACE ADVOCATE JUNE 2026

Source: Merri Ansara

Since the start of 2026, the Trump/Rubio administration has piled punitive measure after punitive measure on Cuba and the Cuban people:

  • January 29: Imposition of an oil blockade on Cuba
  • February:  Interdiction of tankers trying to approach Cuba.
  • March: Trump Cuba “in deep trouble”, threatening a “friendly takeover”
  • April: Escalating military threats, indictments against Castro family.
  • May 1: Declaration of Global Financial Secondary Sanctions
  • May 20: Indictment of historic leader and former president Raul Castro
  • May: Deployment of USS Nimitz and its strike force, drone overflights of Cuba, deployment of troops to Puerto Rico
  • June 5: Deadline for foreign companies and financial institutions to sever ties and liquidate business operations in Cuba

Enough is enough.  The assault on Cuba and the Cuban people must stop.  And above all, our US government must not be allowed to launch any military attack whatsoever on Cuba.  No war on Cuba.  No more US wars.

Cuba has prepared for the worst, preparing for what they call the War of All the People and issuing a Family Guide in Case of Aggression

Are we prepared?

Are we prepared to turn out as soon as there is an imminent military attack or is actually a military attack, in cities and towns around the Commonwealth to say this cannot be allowed?

Act now!

Sign up for the Rapid Response Pledge to turn out the same day if an attack on Cuba comes early in the day and by the following day if an attack comes late in the day.

Don’t wait for a military attack on Cuba to act

Write to your Representative and Senators today to tell them not only to get behind the War Powers Acts introduced in the House (Resolution Number) and in the Senate (Resolution Number) but to get their colleagues on both sides to act now to stop Trump from launching another unnecessary and costly war, this one against people so many of us love and admire for what they have tried and are trying to build in their own sovereign and independent country.  EA Action Link

Take action

Organize rallies, standouts, tabling with petitions, whatever you can to draw attention to the horrendous treatment of the Cuban people through sanctions, embargo and blockade that has driven 45% of the population into poverty; raised infant mortality by 148%; created hospital surgical waiting lists for 85,000 Cuban adults and 11,000 children; forced people to go 20 hours and more without electricity; shut off the pumps for water into the cities; constrained every aspect of normal life.

Cuba is a proud country of achievements in every sphere of life with the right to preserve its independence & sovereignty, its social programs and design of its own for its own society. Support that right.  Hands off Cuba.
