What can we learn from them in these turbulent times?: Emily Greene Balch (1867-1961) and Jane Addams (1860-1935)
Brilliant Emily Greene Balch (EGB) grew up in Jamaica Plain, helped to establish a settlement house in Boston, and taught pioneering social economics at Wellesley College for 22 years. She went to work for WILPF in Europe using her multiple language, analytical, and writing skills which the charismatic, also brilliant, Jane Addams depended on. Both were prolific writers and worked HARD all their lives to stop and prevent wars. They also had balance in their lives.
This event covers what these women, particularly EGB, offered the world…and how it could be utilized today.
