(Brookings, Oregon) Inspired by <"http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomashawk/sets/72157605579131380/">Thomas Hawk’s two-dollar portraits I decided to try to get a few photos of homeless people on my last trip to the States.
Meet One-Eye. Tor met him outside a Subway restaurant and we started chatting to him and plyaing with his dog Belladonna. He could tell us that he was a Vietnam war veteran and that he lost his eye during one of his tours of duty. Since coming back, he has been homeless and has jumped on many a freight train together with Belldonna, and earlier, her mother. He could also inform us that he was on permanent parole as he has robbed 33 drug stores and 8 banks (and counting as we spoke to him) — although he insisted that he never harmed anyone; he always just leaves his gun on the counter and politely asks for money…
