Our neighbors are afraid to go to work\, to the hospital\, to send their children to school\, to worship in peace\, or contact their government. \nIt’s time for all of us to speak up. We can change Massachusetts law to protect our neighbors and end collaboration with ICE. \nThe public has the right to testify (in person\, virtually\, or in writing) on Tuesday Nov. 25th at 11am. But you have to sign up by 5pm today (Thursday Nov. 20th). \n3 Minutes to tell the Public Safety Committee why we shouldn’t be collaborating with ICE. SUMMARY:Defend the Guard
DESCRIPTION:S.2471/H.3829 upholds the framework of the U.S. Constitution by ensuring that the Massachusetts National Guard is only called upon for active federal military service when there has been an official declaration of war by Congress\, as required by Article I\, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution. Its purpose is to require a shift in American foreign policy and curtail the federal government’s ability to wage endless war without congressional oversight or accountability. Defend the Guard would have no effect on either deployments to other states in the union or overseas training missions.  \nThe hearing for this bill will take place on Tuesday\, September 16th in front of the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs. The hearing will be at the Massachusetts State House in room A-1 from 1-5pm. Please join us in testifying in favor of this bill to uphold the U.S. Constitution. \nRegister below by 12pm on Monday September\, 15. You may testify in person or virtually.

SUMMARY:Day of Action for Weapons and Fossil Fuel Divestment
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, May 20th\, from 12pm to 3:30pm for a day of action at the Massachusetts State House! \nRegister to attend. \n \nThe Massachusetts Public Fund is invested in entities involved with weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and climate risks. The focus of the day will be on two bills\, one divesting pension funds from entities involved with the manufacturing\, producing\, or selling of WMD\, and the other assessing the public fund investments for any climate risks and divesting the fund from those risks. We want the state to move our money away from unethical systems and reinvest in sustainable\, socially-responsible alternatives. \nNo experience is necessary! Trainings and briefings on the priority legislation\, an Act Promoting Responsible Investment (S.767/H.1264)\, and an act to Eliminate Climate Risk Investments (H.2811)\, will be provided. \nTraining sessions will be offered on Thursday\, May 15th at 7pm ET and Monday May 19th at 7pm ET.
