Peace Advocate February 2022

MAPA Annual Meeting

Katrina vanden Heuvel will be the keynote speaker at MAPA’s annual membership meeting on Tuesday, April 26, with the theme “Militarism or Extinction?”.   Vanden Heuvel is publisher of The Nation magazine and a weekly columnist at the Washington Post.   Her talk will address US/NATO tensions with Russia, the first year of Biden’s presidency, and progressive prospects in the 2022 election.

Kevin Martin, president of national Peace Action, will then address key peace movement issues, including the Ukraine crisis, Yemen war, Afghanistan, tension with China, and the rapidly escalating Pentagon budget.

MAPA working group chairs will present updates on their groups’ work and 2022 plans, and members will elect the board and hear a finance report.   (Members who wish to run for the board or nominate someone should contact the office at info@masspeaceaction.org or by phone, 617-354-2169.)

In a follow-up session a week later on Tuesday, May 3, the nine MAPA working groups will hold introductory meetings, breakout-style, at which they will welcome new members or those who are considering getting involved.

The two-part annual meeting will take place on Tuesdays, April 26 and May 3, 6:30- 8:30 pm, by Zoom.   To register, go to bit.ly/mapa-annual-2022.
