In No to Nuclear\, she compellingly argues that nuclear power is too slow\, too expensive\, too dangerous and too integrally connected to the nuclear weapons complex to serve as a rational energy choice.  She reveals how the nuclear sector not only fundamentally harms the lives of Indigenous peoples and communities of color but also devalues nature and the environment. In short\, the nuclear power industry is costing us the chance of a genuinely just energy transition. \nLinda Pentz Gunter is the founder and executive director of the US-based non-profit Beyond Nuclear. The organization works to educate the public\, media and decision-makers about the necessity to abolish nuclear power and nuclear weapons and the inextricable link between the two. Previously\, she was a journalist at USA Network\, Reuters\, and The Times. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \nSigns \nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \nParking and other tips \nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). It predates the founding of the nation and is widely recognized as the “cradle of liberty.” Yet\, Faneuil Hall is named after a person who committed himself to the idea of white supremacy. Should Faneuil Hall\, which is named after the slave owner and slave trader Peter Faneuil\, retain its name? We say no. Our work on changing the name of Faneuil Hall is grounded in our corporate quest for racial repair. Our annual hunger fasting at Faneuil Hall is designed to educate the public that Peter Faneuil\, as one of the city’s original founding fathers \, was a profound racist who contributed nothing to the idea of democracy. Changing the name of Faneuil Hall stands as a pathway of addressing the wounds of race and slavery in the city\, We claim that we must shake off our moral fogginess and address the issue of racial change for our collective and better future. After review\, members will vote whether to accept or reject the following changes: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSection 3.03: Currently\, MAPA bylaws limit the Board size to at least three and no more than 25 Directors. The resolution proposes to maintain the minimum but grants the Board the power to determine the maximum number of Directors. \nSection 4.01: Extant bylaws grant the Board the power to\, “appoint not less than three or more than seven Directors or individuals of the MAPA Advisory Council who have served as MAPA Directors to comprise the Executive Committee.” The resolution proposes the Committee no longer be capped at seven and that MAPA staff be included among potential appointees. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers who wish to run for the board or nominate someone should contact the office no later than April 11\, 2026 at info@masspeaceaction.org or by phone\, 617-354-2169.  Five signatures of members are required for a nomination. \nNominees will meet with the Board Recruitment Committee to discuss the roles and responsibilities of a board member.
