SUMMARY:Developing a New U.S. Policy in the Middle East
DESCRIPTION:Josh Paul is a former State Department official who resigned his position due to his opposition to U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East\, specifically to the U.S. providing lethal arms to Israel in violation of U.S. laws such as the Leahy Law.  He founded a new organization called “A New Policy”\, whose mission is to advocate for U.S. policy that will “Advance American national security & foreign policy interests\, Reflect American political deals\, including freedom\, equality\, and human rights\, and Comply with American Laws governing the provision of security assistance and the transfer of arms equally to all countries in the Middle East\, including Israel.”  Mr. Paul will talk about his work with A New Policy and share his analysis of the current debates in Congress and Washington\, D.C. as to U.S. policy on Israel and the Middle East. \nJosh Paul co-founded A New Policy together with former U.S. Department of Education policy advisor Tariq Habash. Paul resigned from the State Department in October\, 2023 due to his disagreement with the Biden Administration rushing lethal military assistance to Israel. He had previously spent over 11 years working as a Director in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs\, which is responsible for U.S. defense diplomacy\, security assistance\, and arms transfers. He previously worked on security sector reform in both Iraq and the West Bank\, with additional roles in the Office of the Secretary of Defense\, U.S. Army Staff\, and as a Military Legislative Assistant for a Member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee. He grew up between London and New York\, holds Masters degrees from the Universities of Georgetown and St Andrews\, Scotland\, and is a recipient of the 2023 Callaway Award for Civic Courage and 2024 MedGlobal Award for Courage. \nRegister for this event:

SUMMARY:Justice 4 All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Via Turn Purple 2 Blue:\n\nGreater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \nSchedule (Starting Thursday\, September 4 – more dates to follow) \n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements\n11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave\n12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \nWhat happens at this ICE office? \nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \nSigns \nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \nParking and other tips \nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. Before arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.)

SUMMARY:Gaza Genocide Projection: Salem
DESCRIPTION:MAPA’s Public Education & Action Team (PEAT) is going to host its first projection of the atrocities that have and continue to go on in Gaza.  We project a looping video from scenes and words from Palestinians\, Doctors\, Activists and Anthony Aguilar\, the Army whistle blower for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.\n\nParking and crowds in Salem will be horrendous\, but what an opportunity to get hundreds to watch the projection.  20\,000+ people are likely to be in Salem.  Please join us if you are able to help us share this incredibly moving video and the impact it has on passersby.  We will also be handing out flyers for CD 6 against Moulton and against the Boston Consulting Group.

But in America\, we don’t have kings\, and we won’t back down against chaos\, corruption\, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us. \nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.
