DESCRIPTION:Last week\, Congresswoman Katherine Clark tweeted that “I am horrified by the starvation in Gaza\,” yet she supports sending Israel the weapons it uses to deliberately starve Gaza. \nWe need to point out this contradiction and demand that Clark takes action to end our country’s complicity in Israel’s genocide. \nRight now there is bill in Congress that would do exactly that\, the Block the Bombs Act (H.3565). This bill would prevent the federal government from sending Israel some of the most destruction weapons being used in its genocide. \nSign this letter to tell Clark that tweets are not enough\, she must take immediate action to end our complicity in the genocide in Gaza. We are demanding Clark meet with her constituents to discuss legislation to stop the genocide and hold Israel accountable. \nWe will be delivering this letter to Clark’s office Thursday\, August 7th at noon\, carrying pots and pans to symbolize the starvation unfolding in Gaza. SUMMARY:Freedom of Expression At Risk!
DESCRIPTION:It’s no secret that censorship\, arrests\, and firings have punished almost every group or individual showing solidarity\, or sometimes merely sympathy\, for Palestinians being slaughtered and displaced by Israel in what experts unanimously regard as genocide. Two of our panelists were fired or disciplined for this solidarity. \nJoin us on August 19th at 7pm at the First Unitarian Church at 71 8th Street\, New Bedford\, MA 02740 for an important discussion on how the repression of Palestine supporters has hit union workers and how unions can fight back to protect their members and defend civil and human rights.  Peggy Wang and Camilo Viveiros will speak about the growing threats to our freedom of expression. Wang will address the attacks on pro-Palestine voices which have led to people being on administrative leave as well as people losing their jobs. Viveiros will discuss the current climate unions face as their right to expression is being threatened. \nThere is no such thing as neutrality when it comes to internationalism. The Labor movement plays an important role in international issues\, such as opposing the genocide in Gaza\, and unions are obliged to recognize the class conflict among all nationalities while showing solidarity with working class people everywhere. SUMMARY:Power Hour: Support the Israel Divestment Bill
DESCRIPTION:Join MAPA’s Power Hour on Jan. 29 at 6pm to make calls in support of the Israel Divestment Bill. \nDespite the supposed “ceasefire” in Gaza\, Israel has continued its genocide of Palestinians through airstrikes\, gunfire\, blocking aid\, and destroying homes. The Israel Divestment Bill is as relevant now as it was before the ceasefire was announced. \nThis bill is currently in the Public Service Committee in the MA House. We will be making calls to the two chairs of the committee to pressure them to vote the bill out favorably. If it does go forward\, it can then eventually be voted on by the full state legislature.  Read more about the bill. \nTake this step to make the State of Massachusetts divest from genocide.
