He is also co-Founder and Past President of Physicians for Social Responsibility. \nMari Inoue\, Esq. was born and raised in Tokyo\, Japan. While working as an immigration attorney in New York since 2001\, she has been active in grassroots movements to educate policy makers and elected officials of the costs\, risks\, and humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons and nuclear energy. She is a co-founder of the Manhattan Project for a Nuclear-Free World\, board member of Peace Action NYS\, and an active member of Affected Communities and Allies Working Group.

DESCRIPTION:Timmon Wallis will discuss his new book Nuclear Abolition: A Scenario. While Annie Jacobsen based her 2024 bestseller\, Nuclear War: A Scenario on numerous interviews with generals\, Pentagon war planners and other nuclear weapons experts\, Wallis bases his scenario on interviews with peace activists and campaigners from across the country and around the world. And while Jacobsen describes\, second by second\, how a single nuclear weapon could end up destroying civilization over a period of 72 minutes\, Wallis lays out a pathway\, already in progress\, that could move the Doomsday Clock second by second further away from midnight\, leading ultimately to the total elimination of nuclear weapons before it’s too late. \nTimmon Wallis is Executive Director of NuclearBan.US\, based in Northampton\, MA. He was born in Cambridge\, MA\, and returned to his home state in 2017\, after spending most of his life in the UK (plus several years in Belgium\, Sri Lanka\, South Sudan and a number of other countries). Wallis holds a PhD in Peace Studies and has been a nuclear disarmament activist for much of his life. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a critical conversation with Congresswoman Delia Ramirez\, who introduced a historic bill – H.R.3565\, the Block the Bombs Act\, to prevent the Trump administration from sending weapons to Israel. This is the first bill in U.S. history to proactively block the president from sending Israel the types of weapons that it has used repeatedly to commit apparent war crimes and crimes against humanity against Palestinians in Gaza through the genocidal violence Israel has been inflicting since October 2023. \nWe’ll also be joined by Mahmoud Khalil\, a Columbia University graduate student and outspoken advocate for Palestine\, who is currently suing the Trump administration after being detained for over 100 days without charges. During his illegal detention\, he was separated from his wife and missed the delivery of his newborn son. This will be consolidated in this month’s NATO summit. \nCaught between Trump shocks\, the Ukraine War\, and the Russia/China quasi alliance\, Europe is in the midst of war\, turmoil\, and massive remilitarization. In addition to increasing the danger of war\, massive cuts in social welfare spending provide openings for renewed European fascism. France\, Germany\, Britain\, and Poland are pressing military collaboration and creation of a new European Union military within and potentially independent from NATO as anti-Russian fervor takes hold. Germany’s massive rearmament adds to anxiety in Paris as well as in Moscow. And incidents in the Baltic Sea could lead to escalating – even nuclear – conflict. To help our movements respond\, MAPA and Campaign for Peace\, Disarmament and Common Security (CPDCS) have organized this webinar featuring Kate Hudson and Reiner Braun. \nKate Hudson is a British political activist and academic and vice-president of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and co-national secretary of Left Unity. She has served as CND chair\, general secretary from 2010 to 2024\, and as an officer of the Stop the War Coalition. She is a board member of the International Peace Bureau. \nReiner Braun is a German journalist\, historian\, and peace activist. While we hope that this fragile ceasefire holds\, our recent experience with Israel’s numerous ceasefire violations in Gaza and Lebanon makes us fear that it may not. We continue to push to prevent the U.S. from getting involved in an all-out regional war. Congress must act now and pass the Iran War Powers resolutions filed by Sen. Kaine and Reps. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, June 14th\, former President Donald Trump will spend at least $100 million of our taxpayer dollars on a military parade—a spectacle meant to glorify power and project strength\, even as vital social services like Social Security\, SNAP\, and Medicaid face relentless cuts. \nOn the same day\, you and I must raise our voices in response. On June 14\, there will be a nationwide mobilization\, a grassroots day of protest to reject this corruption\, abuse of power\, and the creeping normalization of authoritarianism and militarism. \nTrump’s obscene event is not just a wasteful party at your and my expense. It is a deliberate embrace of militarism and strongman authoritarianism\, both of which threaten peace around the world and erode the foundations of democracy and civil rights here at home. History teaches us that military parades are not harmless displays; they are the pageantry of authoritarianism\, designed to intimidate dissent and normalize the idea that might makes right. \nThere will be hundreds of No Kings protests nationwide on June 14\, including over 130 in Massachusetts.   Find an event near you and bring your peace\, Palestine\, and Pride signs! \nIn Boston\, No Kings Day coincides with Pride Day on June 14.   We will amplify Pride by marching with our peace\, Palestine\, and Pride flags.We will not stand idly by while our queer and transgender brothers\, sisters and nonbinary siblings are erased by this administration. \nLogistics: MAPA supporters will assemble outside the CAVA restaurant on Boylston St\, between Dartmouth and Exeter St\, at 10:00am.  Bring Palestine and peace flags\, wear keffiyehs.  We will leaflet the crowd\, then join the parade which is supposed to start at 11:00.  The parade will last from approximately 11am-1pm.
