SUMMARY:No to Nuclear
DESCRIPTION:…Why Nuclear Power Destroys Lives\, Derails Climate Progress and Provokes War \n \nJoin us for a discussion of Linda Pentz Gunter’s newly published book  No To Nuclear: Why Nuclear Power Destroys Lives\, Derails Climate Progress and Provokes War in a webinar moderated by Chris Nord of the C-10 Research and Education Foundation.  \nThe nuclear power industry wants us to believe that theirs is the only technical fix for our deliverance from the climate crisis. While the public\, politicians and the media have been easily swayed\, Gunter blasts aside the industry’s claims that it is safe and green. In No to Nuclear\, she compellingly argues that nuclear power is too slow\, too expensive\, too dangerous and too integrally connected to the nuclear weapons complex to serve as a rational energy choice.  She reveals how the nuclear sector not only fundamentally harms the lives of Indigenous peoples and communities of color but also devalues nature and the environment. In short\, the nuclear power industry is costing us the chance of a genuinely just energy transition. \nLinda Pentz Gunter is the founder and executive director of the US-based non-profit Beyond Nuclear. The organization works to educate the public\, media and decision-makers about the necessity to abolish nuclear power and nuclear weapons and the inextricable link between the two. Previously\, she was a journalist at USA Network\, Reuters\, and The Times. She launched\, and writes for Beyond Nuclear’s online magazine\, Beyond Nuclear International. \nChris Nord is the co-founder and Board member of the C-10 Research and Education Foundation – whose mission includes real-time radiological monitoring near the Seabrook atomic reactor\, as well as education the public about safe and sustainable energy a alternatives.  He is Vice-President of the Citizens Awareness Network and founding member and non-violence trainer of the Clamshell Alliance.  He is the creator of the presentation “Nuclear Spent Fuel and Homeland Security: The Case for Hardened Storage.” and also co-producer of “Circles Around the Fire”\, a 30-minute slide/video program on nuclear power in New England. \nRegister to attend: \n \nSponsored by MAPA Nuclear Disarmament Working Group\, New Hampshire Peace Action\, Peace Action Maine\, and New Jersey Peace Action. Cosponsored by Commonwealth Coalition for Democracy & Safe Energy\, Clamshell Aliance\, and MAPA Indigenous Solidarity. \nTo purchase a copy of Linda’s book\, click the linked title here: No To Nuclear: Why Nuclear Power Destroys Lives\, Derails Climate Progress And Provokes War  \nTo pay in US dollars\, click the tab at the top (that defaults to UK pounds) and choose North America (US$) and fill out the form (choosing United States as your country).  Receive 40% off the cover price through April 14\, 2026.

SUMMARY:From Ground Zero
DESCRIPTION:We present From Ground Zero\, a powerful collection of short films by 22 Palestinian filmmakers living through war and genocide in Gaza. \nThe stories in Palestine’s Official Submission for the 2025 Academy Awards\, From Ground Zero\, capture the unyielding steadfastness of the human spirit and enduring creativity that thrives even in the face of relentless devastation through a unique blend of animation\, documentary\, and fiction. \nFrom Ground Zero was created by filmmaker Rashid Masharawi and designed to give a voice to the people of Gaza and to document their day-to-day experiences\, many of which often go unheard by the outside world. In a war-torn society\, where artistic creation is extremely complex\, the project sought to capture the diversity of perspectives of Gazans through slice-of-life short films\, ranging anywhere from three to six minutes in length. Filmmakers were allowed to tell their story through any genre and cinematic storytelling platform\, from fiction to documentary to animation. \nAfter the film we will hear from Zohaib Qureshi\, a doctor in physical therapy. Dr. Qureshi works  in Neuro-Oncology Amputee Rehab in Dallas\, Texas.  He volunteered in Gaza  and came back in March 2026. \nThe film will be shown in the Parish Hall of St. James Episcopal Church\, three blocks north of Porter Square in Cambridge.  The location can be confusing.  If you have not been to the venue before\, please review these directions and arrive a few minutes early to make sure you find us!

SUMMARY:Justice 4 All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Via Turn Purple 2 Blue:\n\nGreater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \nSchedule (Starting Thursday\, September 4 – more dates to follow) \n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements\n11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave\n12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \nWhat happens at this ICE office? \nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \nSigns \nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \nParking and other tips \nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. Before arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.)

SUMMARY:Emergency Protests: Stop the US-Israeli War on Iran
DESCRIPTION:Rally to demand a complete end to the US-Israel Wars on Iran and Lebanon \nWednesday\, April 8 \nBoston\, 6pm – Park Street Station \nLowell\, 6pm – City Hall \nWorcester\, 6pm – City Hall \nHolyoke\, 6:30 pm – Veterans Memorial Park \nEasthampton\, 5pm – Nashwannuck Pond \nOn Tuesday morning\, President Trump threatened to commit mass war crimes in Iran: “A whole civilization will die tonight\, never to be brought back again\,” if the Iranian government did not meet his demands by 8 PM. \n90 minutes before the deadline\, the President announced that an agreement had been reached for a two-week ceasefire. The exact details of the deal are unclear. What is clear is that the President of the United States is conducting foreign policy by threatening genocide. \nIn the last 5 weeks\, the governments of Israel and the United States have killed over 1\,600 civilians\, including 244 children\, in Iran. Simultaneously\, Israel has killed over 1500 Lebanese people\, including 130 children\, with US weapons\, and ethnically cleansed South Lebanon. They have deceptively used the cover of diplomacy to assassinate Iranian negotiators and leaders. They have endangered the entire region and wasted billions of dollars. They have created an unnecessary shock on the world economy that is threatening the wellbeing of billions. \nA ceasefire agreement is welcome\, but it is not enough. President Trump has revealed that he is dangerously unfit for office. Tomorrow\, we will join with activists across the world to call for an immediate and complete end to the illegal wars on Iran and Lebanon. \nBoston rally sponsored by MAPA\, About Face\, Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine\, Answer Coalition\, Boston Democratic Socialists of America\, CD8 for Palestine\, If Not Now\, Jewish Voice for Peace Boston\, Mass. 50501\, Military Families Speak Out\, National Iranian American Council\, Palestinian Youth Movement\, SEIU Local 509\, Standing Up for Racial Justice\, Party for Socialism and Liberation\, Veterans for Peace.

SUMMARY:Antiwar Open House
DESCRIPTION:Almost 1\,000 people signed petitions\, carried signs\, and reached out at NO KINGS III last Saturday\, March 28\, to express resistance to Trump’s wars on Iran and various other countries. The signed petitions will be sent to our elected officials in Congress to let them know we expect them to stand up to the KING and cut off all funding for his disastrous wars. Opposition to these wars carried out by a cruel King  is building and media coverage of the massive NO KINGS demonstrations around the country make it clear that rage among young people against the U.S.-Israeli illegal war of aggression against Iran was a top reason for many young people joining. \nWe are Massachusetts Peace Action (MAPA). Every day we work to stop this KING’s wars and end his cruelty toward our immigrant neighbors as we try to build a country on the bedrock of community. Do you think you would like to get more involved in preventing Trump from sending ICE into our cities and ground troops into Iran? Or stopping his $200 billion request for additional funding for his war against Iran war\, funding that is  taken from our own communities? Or creating a solid wall of opposition to his collaboration with the continuing genocide in Gaza? Or ending his illegal oil blockade of Cuba that is wreaking such suffering on its people? Or standing against his continuing extra-judicial murders of civilians in boats in the Caribbean\, his abduction of Venezuela’s President\, and his insistence that he will run Venezuela and take its oil? \nThe meeting will be held in the Lounge of St. James Episcopal Church\, three blocks north of Porter Square in Cambridge. The location can be confusing. If you have not been to the venue before\, please review these directions and arrive a few minutes early to make sure you find us!  (The directions page are for the Parish Hall which is right across the hall from the Lounge.) \n

SUMMARY:Will the Real Terrorist Please Stand Up
DESCRIPTION:Boats of armed Cuban Americans trying to land in Cuba like a little Bay of Piglets.  Trump cutting off all oil and threatening military action “I can do anything I want with the Island”.  Threatening countries in the Caribbean with who knows what if they use Cuba’s medical services.  And calling Cuba a terrorist and hostile country. Who’s the terrorist?\n\nThe inimitable Saul Landau with his partner Danny Glover\, take on the question in this 1 hour film:  Will the Real Terrorist Stand Up.  Then we will have a discussion — including a report back on the Nuestra America Convoy that just went to Cuba from 36 countries with some 500 people\, including 150 people from the US\, and several tons of medical aid delivered to hospitals and clinics.  Hope you can come.  And please take this action to tell Congress to pass this resolution forbidding Trump to take military action without consulting Congress.

SUMMARY:No Kings\, No War\, No ICE!
DESCRIPTION:We the People are We the Powerful.\nWe will not stand for another illegal foreign war or for an authoritarian takeover of the United States.\n \nTrump was defeated in Minneapolis and is losing in the courts\, and wants to escape focus on the Epstein files. \nNow\, in his biggest attack on democracy yet\, Trump\, working closely with Netanyahu\, has launched a massive unprovoked war of aggression against Iran. This war is a major violation of the U.S. constitution\, the UN charter and international law.  Its destructive impact is being felt across Middle East and the world. All this on top of Trump’s continued genocide in Palestine and phony “board of peace”\, gratuitous murder of scores of people in small boats\, seizure of oil tankers on the high seas\, criminal kidnapping of the president of Venezuela and illegal oil blockade to overthrow the government of Cuba. \nThe framers of the Constitution put the power to declare war in the hands of Congress for a reason.  We don’t want another war in the Middle East.  We need to end this illegal war and bring the troops home.  On March 28\, we will speak out\, expose President Trump’s lies\, and demand Congress defund this war.   \nThis war is costing a billion dollars a day – draining resources needed to sustain the well being of our neighbors and driving up the cost of everything.   But Trump is proposing a $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget while attacking healthcare\, housing\, education\, and the climate. \nJoin us on the Boston Common and in cities and towns across Massachusetts to say: No Kings\, No War\, No ICE! \nIn Boston\, sign up with MAPA to amplify the antiwar message.  Meet at the MAPA table near the Embrace statue starting at 12pm to distribute our antiwar literature\, petitions and postcards.  Bring your antiwar\, anti-ICE\, anti-authoritarian signs and messages.  We’ll provide signs and literature! \nThe Embrace statue is near Tremont St.\, about half way between Park St. and Boylston St.  The MAPA table will be right next to the statue\, on the other side of it from Tremont St.  We will load in materials from Tremont St. \nTable Setup Starts: 12 pm \nPathways to Power (visibility walk throughout the city with signs and banners): 1-2pm \nRally: 2-4pm \nAction Tables Open: 1-5pm \nIn cities across Massachusetts\, sign up with MAPA to bring the antiwar message to your local No Kings protest.  Help organize the protest in your town\, work with local protest organizers\, and ensure that an antiwar message and speaker is foregrounded.  Bring antiwar signs\, banners and petitions to ensure that the No War\, No ICE message is prominent.  Print our literature or contact us to receive materials by postal. \nAdditionally\, everyone\, sign up for the overall No Kings III Boston mobilization or for the event in your own town. \n \nMAPA materials to be distributed at No Kings III\nPrint and use in your town\, or contact the office to get copies \nThe Peace Advocate newsletter – March 2026 \nStop the Wars – Bring our Troops Home general antiwar petition \nStop the War on Iran half page flyer \nStop Trump’s War of Aggression Iran war pamphlet \nStop Trump’s War of Aggression Iran war petition \nTime to End the Trump-Netanyahu Alliance Iran war petition \nStop the Continuing Genocide in Gaza petition \nStop Trump’s Threats against Cuba pamphlet \nStop the Illegal War on Venezuela pamphlet \nStop the Illegal War on Iran 18 x 24 coroplast yard sign \nStop the Illegal War on Iran 11 x 17 printable poster

SUMMARY:End Trump's Oil blockade of Cuba
DESCRIPTION:A call for help tabling and petition gathering for Cuba this Saturday at noon at Park street station \nThis Saturday the international flotilla in solidarity with Cuba arrives for a big solidarity action in Havana. (They are delivering a significant amount of aid as well) Some of us are hoping to have an event in Boston in solidarity with those events in Cuba. Would you be available for a tabling/standout/leafleting event at Boston Common at noon. We hope to have at least a handful of people collecting signatures on our petition calling for an end to Trump’s oil blockade which has cast the island into darkness some or all of the time and is causing great harm to Cuba’s people. \nOf course there is so much going on. but some of us thought that a Cuba solidarity action at this time when Trump is determined to overthrow Cuba’s government is very much in order and when a big solidarity action is taking place in Cuba itself. Please join us on Saturday at noon. If you have any questions call Paul Shannon at 617-623-5288 and leave a message.

SUMMARY:US Sanctions: A Brutal But Failed Weapon of War (WIRN Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:The largest number of sanctioned countries are in Africa\, deliberately disrupting development. Throughout West Asia strangling U.S. economic sanctions in Palestine\, Lebanon\, Syria\, Iraq\, Iran\, and Yemen go hand and hand with U.S. / Israeli bombing. \nBut US sanctions\, along with Trump’s tariffs and wars\, have failed to reverse the decline of the US Empire. They are accelerating a unified global resistance and movement towards multipolarity\, as can be seen in the growing influence of BRICS and regional trade alliances. The failure of sanctions inevitably pushes the US into military and covert actions attempting to overthrow governments that will not capitulate or compromise their sovereignty. \nThis webinar will discuss the deadly effects of US sanctions as a weapon of war and explain how nations are building new forms of resistance and survival. \nSpeaker : Sara Flounders is a political writer\, activist and anti-war organizer since the 1960s. She helps coordinate the International Action Center (IAC)\, United National Antiwar Coalition(UNAC) and the SanctionsKill Campaign. She is a Contributing Editor of Workers World – Workers.org a daily on-line Marxist news source. Flounders has co-authored and edited ten books on such subjects as the duplicity of military recruiters\, the injustice of U.S. wars and sanctions and the immorality of America’s use of weaponry containing depleted uranium. \nFlounders has traveled to and organized delegations to a number of sanctioned countries\, including Iraq\, Iran\, Lebanon\, Syria\, Sudan\, Yugoslavia\, Cuba\, Venezuela\, Nicaragua and China\, for the express purpose of building solidarity with targeted countries and defending the right of oppressed and targeted people to all forms of resistance. Her work focuses on organizing demonstrations\, direct actions\, picket lines\, community forums\, speak-outs\, war-crimes tribunals. She consistently links U.S. wars and sanctions for corporate profit to the growing repression and racism at home.“My goal is to build confidence in the potential of powerful grassroots movements for change within the U.S.”The US Empire is now sanctioning 40 countries\, most visibly Russia\, Iran\, Venezuela\, and Cuba. These sanctions\, a violation of international law\, are explicitly aimed destabilizing and overturning countries that defy US hegemony. Sanctions are a devastating weapon of choice\, deliberately causing widespread starvation\, disease\, and poverty in the targeted countries. In every case\, the poorest and the weakest – infants\, children\, the chronically ill and the elderly – suffer the worst impact of sanctions.

SUMMARY:The Real Origins of the Ukraine War and Why It Matters Today
DESCRIPTION:Swiss Col. Jacques Baud (retired) is a military and international affairs analyst who will speak about his first-hand knowledge of the Donbass area of Ukraine. From 2012-2017\, he was seconded to NATO by the Swiss government to head NATO Counterproliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons Unit (SALW) in Brussels\, as well as of programs against landmines. In that capacity\, he monitored the SALW situation in the Donbass from 2014 to 2017 and designed de-mining projects in Ukraine.\nAdditionally\, as a UN expert in the Rule of Law and Reform of Security Institutions\, he contributed to projects related to the reform of the Ukrainian army at the end of 2014.\nHe has been outspoken in his views that the Ukrainian government\, aided by the U.S. and EU\, did not abide by the Minsk treaty\, but instead conducted lethal military shelling of Donbass cities\, called an anti-terrorism campaign\, aimed at an armed insurgency of ethnic Russian Ukrainians whose religious\, cultural\, linguistic\, economic\, and political rights were being increasingly restricted by the central government in Kiev.\nBaud has recently been severely sanctioned by the EU for his views. He will share his perspective not only on the origins of the civil war in Ukraine\, but on the current military and political situation and the prospects for a negotiated settlement of the war. \nSwiss Col. Jacques Baud (retired) holds a Master’s in Econometrics and Postgrade Diplomas in International Security and International Relations from the Graduate Institute for International Relations in Geneva.  He worked several years in the Swiss Strategic Intelligence Service. He was trained in US and British intelligence. \nHis extensive expertise in strategic analysis\, conflict mediation and international security spans decades. At the United Nations headquarters in New York\, he was the Head of Policy and Doctrine in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (2009-11) where his team worked on the protection of civilians in war. He is member of the UN Expert Group on the Rule of Law and Security Sector Reform. He authored several books on weapons\, intelligence\, asymmetric warfare and terrorism. He is currently retired and lives in Brussels (Belgium). \nBaud is the author of many books including Covert Wars in Ukraine (2025)\, The Russian Art of War: How the West Led Ukraine to Defeat (2024)\, Operation Z: The Hidden Truth of the Ukraine War (2022)\, and Putin: Master of the Game (2019). \nRegister to attend: \n \nSponsored by MAPA’s Ukraine: A Time for Peace Campaign.
