We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \nSigns \nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \nParking and other tips \nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. SUMMARY:Slavery's Enduring Legacy: America's Unpaid Reparations Debt
DESCRIPTION:The legacy of slavery\, and the stolen labor of millions of Africans forcibly brought to the Americas between the 15th and 19th centuries\, continues to shape the political\, social\, and personal lives of all Americans today\, especially Indigenous and African-descended communities. This webinar examines the enduring consequences of slavery with a focus on reparations: the unpaid debt that still looms over our society. We will take an alternative approach to the subject of reparations: We will trace its roots in the expansion of the American empire and the ideology of white supremacy. We will explore slavery’s continuation embedded in the 13th Amendment\, including the ongoing legality of forced labor for incarcerated people and the industry that profits from incarceration\, punishment\, and surveillance. And we will address the city of Boston\, whose wealth was built on the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Together\, we will consider the obstacles to repair and explore how to forge a new path forward. \nSpeakers: \nStephanie Guirand holds a PhD in Sociology from Goldsmiths\, University of London\, where she is currently a Graduate Fellow. She serves as the Program Function Manager and Researcher for The Black Response (TBR)\, an abolitionist research and advocacy organisation under Community Service Cares\, Inc.\, based in Cambridge\, MA. \nKevin Peterson is the founder and executive director of The New Democracy Coalition\, a non-partisan and non-profit organization that focuses on civic literacy\, civic policy and electoral justice. Mr. Peterson studied philosophy and politics at Boston University and is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for Collaborative Leadership at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. \nTony Van Der Meer\, PhD is a Senior Lecturer in the Africana Studies Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston and serves on the MAPA Board. Professor Van Der Meer was selected for the 2024 Scholar Activist Award from Critical Educators for Social Justice (CESI)\, a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). \nRosemary Kean serves on MAPA’s Board and also is co-convener of MAPA’s Racial Justice and Indigenous Solidarity Working Group. DESCRIPTION:Benny Davidovitch recently returned from the West Bank as part of a Protective Presence for Palestinian shepherds and their families. This presentation is based on his personal experience in the 2 weeks he spent with families in the West Bank (northern Jordan valley). He has put together an excellent presentation on his time there\, including photos and videos taken by himself and other volunteers. It is approximately 25-30 mins\, and consists mainly of photos and short films of events that he and others with the group Jordan Valley Activists (JVA) witnessed during their stays in West Bank communities. \nDavidovitch is an American-Israeli who is a volunteer with JVA\, a group comprised of mostly Jewish Israelis who provide a “protective presence” between Palestinian shepherds and the settlers who target them. They document law violations and other abuses committed by the settlers and fund-raise to help shepherds access water when sources are restricted by the Israeli army. Since the Hamas attack of October 2023\, the settler movement has used Israel’s siege in Gaza as an opportunity to intensify their established campaign of violent harassment of Palestinian shepherds and their families– including arbitrary arrests\, home demolitions\, land grabs\, and murders. \n\nBenjamin Davidovitch\, an American-Israeli resident of Amherst MA since 2007\, works as a Physics Professor at UMass Amherst. In the summer of 2025\, he joined the Jordan Valley Activists – Israeli volunteers who stay 24/7 with Palestinian communities at risk\, and provide them with “protective presence” against their harassment and displacement by violent settler groups. \nRegister to attend:

DESCRIPTION:Via Turn Purple 2 Blue:\n\nGreater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \nSchedule (Starting Thursday\, September 4 – more dates to follow) \n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements\n11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave\n12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \nWhat happens at this ICE office? \nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \nSigns \nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \nParking and other tips \nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. Before arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.)

After retiring\, she became a noted critic of the U.S. involvement in Iraq. Kwiatkowski is known for her insider essays denouncing a corrupting political influence on military intelligence\, especially leading up to the 2003 Iraq War. In 2012\, she challenged incumbent Bob Goodlatt in the Republican primary for Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. \nWhile in the Air Force\, she wrote the books Africa: African Crisis Response Initiative: Past Present and Future (2000) and Expeditionary Air Operations in Africa: Challenges and Solutions (2001). She contributed to Ron Paul: A Life of Ideas (2008) and Why Liberty: Personal Journeys Toward Peace and Freedom (2010). She has been featured in several documentaries\, including Why We Fight (2005). She has written for LewRockwell.com since 2003 and her work has appeared in Salon and The American Conservative. She has an MA in Government from Harvard\, an MS in Science Management from the University of Alaska\, and a PhD in World Politics from The Catholic University of America; her thesis was titled Angola\, A Case Study of the Implementation of the Reagan Doctrine.
