SUMMARY:Block the Bombs Action Hour
DESCRIPTION:Since a ceasefire was announced on Oct 9\, Israel has committed over 700 violations and killed 386 Palestinians\, including\, on average\, two children per day. Congress must pass the Block the Bombs Act to bring about a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and across the region. \nThe Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565)\, which currently has 57 co-sponsors\, was introduced by Representatives Ramirez\, Jacobs\, Jayapal\, and Pocan. If adopted\, the bill would prohibit the President from selling\, transferring\, or exporting certain defense articles or services to Israel\, except in specified circumstances. These weapons have been used to inflict mass civilian casualties and destroy civilian infrastructure\, including 2000-lb bombs. When dropped\, they can lead to a half-mile radius of both building damage and severe injuries to humans\, including ruptured lungs\, burst sinuses\, and torn off limbs. \nU.S. weapons are responsible for tens of thousands of Palestinian deaths. Americans are tired of seeing it – 75% of Democratic voters\, and 60% of all voters\, oppose the US giving more weapons to Israel. They are also tired of paying for it with their taxes – $21.7B since October 7th. It is time for Congress to use its leverage as the controller of military aid to force Israel to abide by the ceasefire. \nJoin us for an action hour to call on our members of Congress to sign on. We will gather on Zoom\, go through a brief intro\, and make phone calls to Congress\, demanding they support this bill. We will walk through a call script for those who would like some help on what to say on the calls. \nRegister Below!

SUMMARY:Report from the West Bank
DESCRIPTION:Benny Davidovitch recently returned from the West Bank as part of a Protective Presence for Palestinian shepherds and their families. This presentation is based on his personal experience in the 2 weeks he spent with families in the West Bank (northern Jordan valley). He has put together an excellent presentation on his time there\, including photos and videos taken by himself and other volunteers. It is approximately 25-30 mins\, and consists mainly of photos and short films of events that he and others with the group Jordan Valley Activists (JVA) witnessed during their stays in West Bank communities. \nDavidovitch is an American-Israeli who is a volunteer with JVA\, a group comprised of mostly Jewish Israelis who provide a “protective presence” between Palestinian shepherds and the settlers who target them. They document law violations and other abuses committed by the settlers and fund-raise to help shepherds access water when sources are restricted by the Israeli army. Since the Hamas attack of October 2023\, the settler movement has used Israel’s siege in Gaza as an opportunity to intensify their established campaign of violent harassment of Palestinian shepherds and their families– including arbitrary arrests\, home demolitions\, land grabs\, and murders. \n\nBenjamin Davidovitch\, an American-Israeli resident of Amherst MA since 2007\, works as a Physics Professor at UMass Amherst. In the summer of 2025\, he joined the Jordan Valley Activists – Israeli volunteers who stay 24/7 with Palestinian communities at risk\, and provide them with “protective presence” against their harassment and displacement by violent settler groups. \nRegister to attend:

SUMMARY:Media Bias and the Gaza Genocide
DESCRIPTION:Since October 2023\, historian Assal Rad and journalist Sana Saeed have closely tracked media coverage of the war in Gaza\, highlighting how much of it aligns with the Israeli narrative and distorts key facts — contributing to widespread misinformation and disinformation. \nOur speakers will present examples of headlines that obscure the facts\, and we will have some time to practice our media literacy skills! \n\nDr. Assal Rad is a historian of the modern Middle East. She works on research and writing related to U.S. foreign policy issues\, the Middle East\, contemporary Iran\, and Israel/Palestine. Her writing can be seen in Newsweek\, The National Interest\, The Independent\, Foreign Policy and more\, and she has appeared as a commentator on BBC World\, Al Jazeera\, CNN\, and NPR. Assal completed a PhD in History from the University of California\, Irvine in 2018 and is the author of The State of Resistance: Politics\, Culture\, and Identity in Modern Iran (Cambridge University Press\, 2022). \nSana Saeed is an award-winning journalist and media critic known for her sharp analysis of how media shapes public perception. She previously hosted the shows Backspace and The Occupation Style Guide at AJ+ that illuminated the ways mainstream news frames narratives around war\, colonialism\, and resistance. Since October 2023\, she has been at the forefront of critically exposing how U.S. media propaganda is used to justify war crimes and shape public discourse around the genocide in Gaza. \n  \nRegister to attend:

A young student searches the Internet for photos of libraries around the world\, hoping he’ll be able to visit them one day. Another walks around the city\, taking notes of all the buildings she dreams of repairing. \nThese are the stories of young people from Gaza\, born under Israeli occupation and blockade. They are people who have endured unspeakable struggles and losses\, who keep fighting to be recognized not as numbers\, but as human beings with hopes\, dreams\, and lives worth living. \nWe Are Not Numbers was founded in 2014 to give voice to the youth of Gaza. In this collection—vital\, urgent and full of heart\, spanning over ten years to the present moment—we gain an unparalleled insight into the past\, as well as the current and next generation of Palestinian leaders\, artists\, scientists and scholars and imagine where we might go from here. \nPraise for We Are Not Numbers\n“Essential . . . A project that insists on liberation.” — Ta-Nehisi Coates \n“A rebellion against the singular story. An insightful\, multifaceted glimpse into the besieged Gaza Strip\, where millions of people continue to confront a genocide waged by an Israeli regime.” — Mohammed el-Kurd \n“With lovingly crafted words and stories\, the authors in We Are Not Numbers open portals in Israel’s apartheid wall\, inviting readers into the impossible realities of life under siege in Gaza. The collective commitment to doing whatever it takes to produce this extraordinary symphony of testimony is evident on every page. This book is a jailbreak—and a miracle.” — Naomi Klein \n“We Are Not Numbers is not just a book—it’s my life\, their life\, and our shared story. I know some of these brave writers; I’ve walked the same streets\, felt the same fear\, and shared the same dreams under Gaza’s skies. These pages carry the truth of our struggle and the beauty of our humanity. This is Gaza as it truly is\, written by those who live it every day.” — Motaz Azaiza\, award-winning Palestinian photojournalist \n“Picking up this book may seem hard because of the subject matter; putting it down is even harder. The voices of Gaza’s young writers are so moving and varied and astonishing. You’ll carry We Are Not Numbers in your heart for a very long time.” — Kamila Shamsie \nBios\nPam Bailey is a freelance journalist and social-justice activist. SUMMARY:Standout: Hold Israel Accountable
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, Nov 1\, noon \nPark Street Station\, Boston \ndate changed due to predicted weather \n \nHundreds of Palestinians have been killed by Israel since the ceasefire agreement was signed. \nThe U.S. must demand that Israel obey the ceasefire immediately \nSeth Moulton\, who is running for Senate\, and our whole congressional delegation must wake up and support the Stop the Bombs legislation and cut off of military and diplomatic support for Israel. \nThe Mass. State legislature must divest the pension plan from the companies providing the weapons being used by Israel to violate the ceasefire. \nThe Famine continues in violation of the agreement. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians continue to starve in violation of the Agreement’s demand that the U.N. and other organizations be allowed to end the famine. \nThe U.S. government and public demand Israel’s compliance with the agreement to end the famine. \nWe must punish Israel’s continued starvation of Palestinians by suspending all aid to Israel and passing the Stop the Bombs legislation.   Members of Congress including Seth Moulton must support the UNRWA Funding Restoration Act. \nThis rally will raise awareness that Israel is continuing the mass murder and starvation of Palestinians in violation of the Agreement they claim to be observing\, and to cut into the assumption that Trump’s agreement has ended the Gaza war and to call for Israel’s isolation as punishment for these violations \nSponsored by Arise & Resist\, MAPA\, Northshore for Palestine\, CD8 for Palestine\, Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine\, and Palestine South Shore Alliance. SUMMARY:Anti-Semitism as a Smokescreen: Effects of Pseudo Anti-semitism on Women
DESCRIPTION:Under the guise of condemning anti-semitism\, the current U.S. presidential administration has weaponized and distorted the true meaning of antisemitic philosophy and actions. Countering anti-semitism has become a bullying tactic on U.S. college campuses and is being used as a means to discredit or demonize supporters of Palestinian rights. \nThis brand of anti-semitism has become a smokescreen for punishing institutions and activists and can be seen as “pseudo anti-semitism”\, a false interpretation and deliberate twisting of the concept used to confuse and further polarize the U.S. electorate.\n \nSpeakers will address how “pseudo anti-semitism” affects women in the U.S. and in Palestine\, contributing to the dangerous rhetoric of the ongoing war taking place there. \nAlice Rothchild\, MD is a retired obstetrician-gynecologist who worked in the health care reform and women’s movements for many years. She directed a documentary film Voices Across the Divide\, an oral history project sharing the stories of Palestinians\, which premiered at the Boston Palestine Film Festival\, 2013. \nSince 1997\, she has focused much of her energy on understanding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict from a progressive perspective. Her books on this topic include Condition Critical: Life and Death in Israel/Palestine\, Extraordinary Rendition: (American) Writers on Palestine\, On the Brink: Israel and Palestine on the Eve of the 2014 Gaza Invasion\, Shifting Sands: Jewish Women Confront the Israeli Occupation\, and Broken Promises\, Broken Dreams: Stories of Jewish and Palestinian Trauma and Resilience. \nLubna Alzaroo\, PhD grew up in Hebron\, Palestine before moving to the U.S. for graduate school on a Fulbright Scholarship. Her upbringing in Palestine shaped her interest in Environmental Justice issues. She has master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Washington with a focus on the Environmental Humanities. Her research is on the representation of settler-colonial infrastructure\, and the environment in both U.S and Palestinian Literature. She is a lecturer in the Program on the Environment and the Comparative History of Ideas department at The University of Washington and also teaches Environmental Science at South Seattle College. Her courses focus on environmental justice and Settler Colonial Infrastructures. \nSponsored by the Women’s Health Subteam of Fund Healthcare Not Warfare\, MAPA Education Fund.  Register to attend.

SUMMARY:Boston Condemns Genocide
DESCRIPTION:Boston Consulting Group has cancelled their Boston WorldWide Alumni Day for this evening for “unforeseen” reasons. Boston Condemns Genocide will continue with our event to expose BCG as partners in genocide. \nOur event will run from 6pm to 8:30pm with our spectacular speaker line up and projection of GHF sites and atrocities. \nBoston Consulting Group was the key architect and operator of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation\, and is directly complicit in the “aid death traps” that killed thousands of Palestinians seeking food\, water\, and fuel. Join us to disrupt their Worldwide Alumni Day 2025 alongside GHF whistleblower Anthony Aguilar and Doctors Against Genocide co-founder Dr. Karameh Hawash-Kuemmerle. \nWhy we’re acting:\n• BCG designed and ran GHF’s operations\n• Their involvement makes them a direct contributor to genocide\n• Alumni Day is their annual celebration of corporate influence \nBe there to:\n• Expose BCG’s role in GHF\n• Demand full disclosure and accountability\n• Challenge corporate complicity \nWhen BCG engages\, ideas become systems. Rise up for Gaza & shut down war profiteers on October 9 @ BCG HQ!

SUMMARY:Two Years of Genocide: Rise Up for Gaza
DESCRIPTION:On October 5th\, we will take the streets in the masses to show that the people of Boston stand with Gaza. From wherever we are\, we will make it clear: we demand a total arms embargo and sanctions against Israel. \nAs we mark two years of genocide\, we recall our responsibility to the people of Gaza\, who have resisted an all-out war on their lives for over 700 days. In confronting those who continue to make this genocide possible\, we affirm that the United States\, Canada\, Europe\, and Arab states bear full complicity in Zionism’s crimes. The time is now to link arms\, reenergize ourselves and our people\, and stop the world for Gaza. Join us on October 5th for an international day of action. \nWe will not rest until the genocide is brought to an end\, until those who bear responsibility are made to answer for their crimes and until Palestine is free\, from the river to the sea.

SUMMARY:Rally to Divest MA from Genocide
DESCRIPTION:Join us on September 19\, in front of the Massachusetts State House to raise our voices against Israel’s decision to erase the very idea of a Palestine and to “put another nail in the coffin” of this hope. It’s time for Massachusetts to end its investments in the merchants of death who are profiting from this mass murder and starvation being carried on in front of the world. \nTime to get the word out that our divestment bill is about to be voted on by the\nLegislature \n\nWe will thank the legislators on the Public Service Committee for meeting with us over\nthe past 3 months and for engaging with us in serious conversation about the horror in\nGaza and why our bill could play a role in the effort to prevent the annihilation of\nPalestinians.\nWe will point out that our bill provides the Legislature to with an opportunity to make a\ncourageous statement on the moral issue of our time.\nA positive vote means that our bill moves on to the next stage in the legislative process.\nWithout a positive vote our bill dies.\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:The Wrong Way to Combat Antisemitism
DESCRIPTION:MAPA will present a teach-in on the right and wrong ways to address antisemitism.  The workshop will include viewing a 40-minute film\,  “Exploring an Antiracist\, Solidarity Approach to Antisemitism”\, which is based on a conversation among seven well-informed people held in June of this year.  View the film trailer. \nThe meeting will include small-group discussions. This teach-in will encourage participants to think critically about the issues raised by the work of the MA Special Commission on Combating Antisemitism and its role in shaping state policy\, and motivate participants to get involved in expressing their views to their legislators about the work of the Commission and introduce mechanisms and tools for doing so. \nThe film and teach-in materials were developed by Together for an Inclusive Massachusetts (TIM)\, a diverse alliance of Jewish\, Muslim\, Arab\, labor\, education\, civil rights and other organizations\, including MAPA\, advocating for justice and equity in Massachusetts. \nThe event is in-person only. Attendance is open and free to MAPA members and supporters\, but to allow us to organize the discussions\, you must sign up to attend. Do not show up for the event without signing up. DESCRIPTION:The Democratic State Convention will be held in Springfield on Saturday\, Sept 13.  The party leadership has refused to address the Gaza starvation and genocide at the convention and has watered down the party platform to the point where it is almost meaningless. \nMAPA members and allied Palestine activists will pass flyers to convention delegates calling on Congress to support the Block the Bombs Act\, which would cut off offensive weapons shipments to Israel. \nJoin us as we reach out to the thousands of delegates.  We need volunteers to pass out flyers starting at 8am\, with the peak hours being from 9:30am – 11:00 am.   Additional people will hold up banners\, signs and Palestine flags.  For those who are delegates\, we’ll also have a literature table inside. Please sign up to help.  Bring banners\, signs and flags. \nEnter on the corner of Main Street and Bruce Landon Way.  The Convention Center carpark is at 41 Harrison Ave\, $20 a day. \nSee the flyer we’ll be handing out to delegates.    Sign up to be there and help out.

SUMMARY:People's Hunger Strike
DESCRIPTION:Healthcare workers\, healthcare organizations and community groups based in Boston are launching a Hunger Strike in Boston beginning on Thursday\, September 4th. Palestinians are being starved to death and are calling for an international hunger strike in solidarity. We must act NOW and escalate the political pressure to put an end to the genocide that is taking place before our very eyes. \nWe Demand \n\nSenators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey to introduce a Senate version of the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565) to block the Trump administration from delivering major US weapons to Israel – bombs\, tank rounds\, and artillery shells – which it has used in its mass killing of Palestinians in Gaza.\nRepresentative Katherine Clark\, Democratic Party Whip\, to co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act\n\nSuccessive cohorts of strikers will engage in 7-day fasts\, to create a continuous collective hunger strike. The strikers will be offered practical support and medical monitoring. There will be press conferences\, art activities\, and poetry readings\, all in order to highlight our action and the atrocities that are happening every day in Gaza. \nJoin us for our launch outside the JFK Federal Building starting September 4th at 11am. Following the launch on the 4th\, there will be daily standouts Monday through Friday from 3-5pm. \nClick below to find more information on how to join and support the strike. \n \nRefer to this website for up to date information on the strike\, and click here to see schedule details as well as weekend events.
