He has been widely recognized for his work encouraging peaceful resistance against the Israeli occupation for which he has been imprisoned scores of times. From 2016-2021 he was on trial in Israeli military court on 18 charges deemed ‘baseless’ by Amnesty International. In 2024 Amro and Youth Against Settlements received the Right Livelihood Award\, known as the ‘alternative Nobel Prize.’ He has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. \nPeter Beinart is professor of journalism and political science at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism in the City University of New York\, editor-at-large of Jewish Currents and a contributing opinion writer at The New York Times. With over 25 years of clinical and leadership experience\, she has lead initiatives to reduce suicide deaths\, eliminate physical restraints and integrate behavioral health and primary care treatment. Dr. Weidner completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania\, her fellowship at Harvard Children’s Hospital and her MBA at MIT. \nHeba Eljafarawi\, PA is a physician assistant and a founding member of the non-profit We Will Return (WWR). DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, May 20th\, from 12pm to 3:30pm for a day of action at the Massachusetts State House! \nRegister to attend. \n \nThe Massachusetts Public Fund is invested in entities involved with weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and climate risks. The focus of the day will be on two bills\, one divesting pension funds from entities involved with the manufacturing\, producing\, or selling of WMD\, and the other assessing the public fund investments for any climate risks and divesting the fund from those risks. We want the state to move our money away from unethical systems and reinvest in sustainable\, socially-responsible alternatives. \nNo experience is necessary! Trainings and briefings on the priority legislation\, an Act Promoting Responsible Investment (S.767/H.1264)\, and an act to Eliminate Climate Risk Investments (H.2811)\, will be provided. \nTraining sessions will be offered on Thursday\, May 15th at 7pm ET and Monday May 19th at 7pm ET. Wang will address the attacks on pro-Palestine voices which have led to people being on administrative leave as well as people losing their jobs. Viveiros will discuss the current climate unions face as their right to expression is being threatened. \nThere is no such thing as neutrality when it comes to internationalism. The Labor movement plays an important role in international issues\, such as opposing the genocide in Gaza\, and unions are obliged to recognize the class conflict among all nationalities while showing solidarity with working class people everywhere. DESCRIPTION:Healthcare workers\, healthcare organizations and community groups based in Boston are launching a Hunger Strike in Boston beginning on Thursday\, September 4th. Palestinians are being starved to death and are calling for an international hunger strike in solidarity. We must act NOW and escalate the political pressure to put an end to the genocide that is taking place before our very eyes. \nWe Demand \n\nSenators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey to introduce a Senate version of the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565) to block the Trump administration from delivering major US weapons to Israel – bombs\, tank rounds\, and artillery shells – which it has used in its mass killing of Palestinians in Gaza.\nRepresentative Katherine Clark\, Democratic Party Whip\, to co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act\n\nSuccessive cohorts of strikers will engage in 7-day fasts\, to create a continuous collective hunger strike. The strikers will be offered practical support and medical monitoring. There will be press conferences\, art activities\, and poetry readings\, all in order to highlight our action and the atrocities that are happening every day in Gaza. \nJoin us for our launch outside the JFK Federal Building starting September 4th at 11am.
