DESCRIPTION:President Trump has launched a regime change war on Iran\, without approval from Congress\, while negotiations are going on. \nRally Monday\, March 2\, 6pm\, at Park Street\, Boston to denounce this criminal agression by our government and demand an immediate end to the conflict. \nTrump’s unprovoked\, illegal attack on Iran is an act of war that threatens to cause unthinkable death and destruction. DESCRIPTION:We the People are We the Powerful.\nWe will not stand for another illegal foreign war or for an authoritarian takeover of the United States.\n \nTrump was defeated in Minneapolis and is losing in the courts\, and wants to escape focus on the Epstein files. \nNow\, in his biggest attack on democracy yet\, Trump\, working closely with Netanyahu\, has launched a massive unprovoked war of aggression against Iran. This war is a major violation of the U.S. constitution\, the UN charter and international law.  Its destructive impact is being felt across Middle East and the world. The exact details of the deal are unclear. What is clear is that the President of the United States is conducting foreign policy by threatening genocide. \nIn the last 5 weeks\, the governments of Israel and the United States have killed over 1\,600 civilians\, including 244 children\, in Iran. Simultaneously\, Israel has killed over 1500 Lebanese people\, including 130 children\, with US weapons\, and ethnically cleansed South Lebanon. They have deceptively used the cover of diplomacy to assassinate Iranian negotiators and leaders. They have endangered the entire region and wasted billions of dollars. They have created an unnecessary shock on the world economy that is threatening the wellbeing of billions. \nA ceasefire agreement is welcome\, but it is not enough. President Trump has revealed that he is dangerously unfit for office. Now\, with the fuel blockade\, conditions have worsened considerably\, with severe shortages in fuel\, food\, medicines\, and electricity. \nRecently\, CODEPINK’s Nuestra América Convoy delegation of 170 people delivered 6\,300 pounds of urgently needed medicines and medical supplies\, including neonatal equipment\, analgesics\, catheters\, and other critical hospital materials. The supplies\, valued at $433\,000\, were collected by Global Health Partners. \nThis webinar will address the nature of the US war on Cuba and the humanitarian efforts now happening on behalf of the Cuban people. SUMMARY:Iran\, the United States\, and Why this War Matters
DESCRIPTION:Why is the US at war with Iran?  \nDid Iranians come into existence in 1979 and start shouting “Death to America”?  \nIran is one of the most consistently demonized nations in U.S. discourse. U.S. officials\, and media\, frequently use obscene\, dehumanizing\, and misleading language with regards to Iran.  \nThis consistent dehumanization helps manufacture consent for policies that have devastated the lives of ordinary Iranians in both Iran and the U.S. U.S. policy towards Iran over the past 47 years has consisted of economic warfare\, sabotage\, and overt and covert war\, with brief interludes of diplomacy.  \nHowever\, the history of U.S.-Iran interactions is longer than that.   \nHow did we get here? What is the responsibility of those of us living in the U.S. towards ordinary Iranians and how does endless war affect us?  \nWe will briefly review the history of U.S.-Iran relations in the context of the broader history of the Iranian struggle for sovereignty and attempt to address these questions. \nOur main presenter\, Bahar Sharafi\, is an Iranian-American activist\, born in Tehran with family there.   Now living in Dorchester\, she is a MAPA board member and co-chair of the MAPA-initiated Stop the US War on Iran committee.  Bahar is a volunteer leader with the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Iranian American Council\, and a co-founder of CD8 for Palestine. She spoke on the US-Iran war to 130\,000 people at the “No Kings III” rally on Boston Common\, March 30.  A second presenter will explain actions you can take and how to get involved. \nBahar is the narrator of the short film “A Glimpse of Iran“\, which shares sights\, sounds and reflections from her last trip to Iran\, and describes what it feels like to live in America while it wages an illegal war on her homeland.

SUMMARY:Vets Say NO to the Iran War
DESCRIPTION:Over 150 veterans and military families occupied the rotunda of the Cannon House Office Building on April 20\, 2026 to protest the war in Iran. This webinar acknowledges and explores the resistance of enlisted soldiers and veterans to this illegal war. The webinar also takes up the war crimes committed by the US military involving the destruction of Iranian culture and the murder of Iranian people and the psychological impact of these crimes on soldiers. \n\nAbout Face is a group of active duty soldiers and veterans organizing to end the US foreign policy of permanent war.  Originally formed in 2004 as Iraq Veterans Against the War\, they have been speaking out out against US wars based on lies and advocating for active duty and returning veterans since then.  \nSpeakers: \nKevin Benderman is a Board Member of About Face and served ten years in the US Army. First deployed to Iraq in March 2003\, he refused to return for a second deployment because of the lies that preceded the invasion\, the harm being done to the Iraqi people\, and because it went against everything he thought it meant to be a soldier. Denied conscientious objector status\, he was court-martialed\, confined for 15 months\, dishonorably discharged and lost all benefits. \nJeff Parente is a graduate of Penn State University and an Iraq War\, Marine Corps veteran. He has been a member of Veterans for Peace for ten years and About Face: Veterans Against the War for almost 3 years as well as working with multiple other organizations. A committed peace activist\, he is a critic of the military industrial complex ad advocates for cutting defense spending to fund human needs. \nBahar Sharafi is an Iranian-American activist born in Tehran with family there.  Now living in Dorchester\, she is a MAPA board member and co-chair of the MAPA-initiated Stop the US War on Iran committee. She is a volunteer leader with the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Iranian American Council\, and a co-founder of CD8 for Palestine. She will show her video “A Glimpse of Iran” during her presentation.  \nJohn Schuchardt\, J.D.. is co-director of The House of Peace together with his wife Carrie Schuchardt. As a 1stLt.\, he resigned his commission from the US Marine Corps in 1965 after the marines’ landing at DaNang.  For 50 years\, he has been active with Plowshares direct disarmament actions\, trials\, and imprisonments; A member of AFSC\, MAPA\, and Veterans for Peace\, he helped realize the construction of four Peace Pagodas with Japanese Buddhist Order Nipponzan Myohoji.  In 2010\, he participated in a citizen diplomacy delegation to Iran. In 2019 he was part of a Global Network delegation to Russia. \nMike Prysner is Executive Director of the Center on Conscience and War. He joined the US Army ust before 9/11 and took part in the invasion of Iraq. When he returned home he got involved in the struggle against the war\, leading civil disobedience against the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.  Many of the active duty soldiers who accessed the media he has produced\, including the podcast Eyes Left\, have become war resisters. \nNancy Goldner\, LICSW\, has been an anti-war activist since the Vietnam War. She has supported the emotional recovery of veterans from the trauma of America’s endless wars since founding the Returning Veterans Response Network in 2007.
