DESCRIPTION:Rally to demand a complete end to the US-Israel Wars on Iran and Lebanon \nWednesday\, April 8 \nBoston\, 6pm – Park Street Station \nLowell\, 6pm – City Hall \nWorcester\, 6pm – City Hall \nHolyoke\, 6:30 pm – Veterans Memorial Park \nEasthampton\, 5pm – Nashwannuck Pond \nOn Tuesday morning\, President Trump threatened to commit mass war crimes in Iran: “A whole civilization will die tonight\, never to be brought back again\,” if the Iranian government did not meet his demands by 8 PM. \n90 minutes before the deadline\, the President announced that an agreement had been reached for a two-week ceasefire. The exact details of the deal are unclear. What is clear is that the President of the United States is conducting foreign policy by threatening genocide. \nIn the last 5 weeks\, the governments of Israel and the United States have killed over 1\,600 civilians\, including 244 children\, in Iran. Simultaneously\, Israel has killed over 1500 Lebanese people\, including 130 children\, with US weapons\, and ethnically cleansed South Lebanon. They have deceptively used the cover of diplomacy to assassinate Iranian negotiators and leaders. They have endangered the entire region and wasted billions of dollars. They have created an unnecessary shock on the world economy that is threatening the wellbeing of billions. \nA ceasefire agreement is welcome\, but it is not enough. President Trump has revealed that he is dangerously unfit for office. It has been an illegal\, unwarranted\, and immoral act of war and has crippled the Cuban economy with deadly results. Now\, with the fuel blockade\, conditions have worsened considerably\, with severe shortages in fuel\, food\, medicines\, and electricity. \nRecently\, CODEPINK’s Nuestra América Convoy delegation of 170 people delivered 6\,300 pounds of urgently needed medicines and medical supplies\, including neonatal equipment\, analgesics\, catheters\, and other critical hospital materials. The supplies\, valued at $433\,000\, were collected by Global Health Partners. \nThis webinar will address the nature of the US war on Cuba and the humanitarian efforts now happening on behalf of the Cuban people. It will be a call to action to stand with and speak out for our brothers and sisters in this beautiful neighboring nation. DESCRIPTION:Hi everyone\, we are going to table again this Saturday\, April 25 from noon to 1pm outside of Park Street Station. The focus will be on ending the U.S. – Israeli war on Iran (and Gaza and Lebanon). We will get petitions signed and postcards filled out at the table while we leaflet and hold signs and the new Iran banner. \nWhile the present situation with the ceasefire is complicated\, our job is to keep the pressure on to cut off all present funding for this war of aggression\, to bring our 50\,000 troops home\, and to stop Trump’s request for billions more for the war. \nSo we need volunteers both for the tabling/petition gathering/ leafleting from noon to 1pm. \nPlease join us if you can starting at 11:30am. SUMMARY:Iran\, the United States\, and Why this War Matters
DESCRIPTION:Why is the US at war with Iran?  \nDid Iranians come into existence in 1979 and start shouting “Death to America”?  \nIran is one of the most consistently demonized nations in U.S. discourse. U.S. officials\, and media\, frequently use obscene\, dehumanizing\, and misleading language with regards to Iran.  \nThis consistent dehumanization helps manufacture consent for policies that have devastated the lives of ordinary Iranians in both Iran and the U.S. U.S. policy towards Iran over the past 47 years has consisted of economic warfare\, sabotage\, and overt and covert war\, with brief interludes of diplomacy.  \nHowever\, the history of U.S.-Iran interactions is longer than that.   \nHow did we get here? What is the responsibility of those of us living in the U.S. towards ordinary Iranians and how does endless war affect us?  \nWe will briefly review the history of U.S.-Iran relations in the context of the broader history of the Iranian struggle for sovereignty and attempt to address these questions. \nOur main presenter\, Bahar Sharafi\, is an Iranian-American activist\, born in Tehran with family there.   Now living in Dorchester\, she is a MAPA board member and co-chair of the MAPA-initiated Stop the US War on Iran committee.  Bahar is a volunteer leader with the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Iranian American Council\, and a co-founder of CD8 for Palestine. She spoke on the US-Iran war to 130\,000 people at the “No Kings III” rally on Boston Common\, March 30.  A second presenter will explain actions you can take and how to get involved. \nBahar is the narrator of the short film “A Glimpse of Iran“\, which shares sights\, sounds and reflections from her last trip to Iran\, and describes what it feels like to live in America while it wages an illegal war on her homeland.
