Webinar with Professor Larry Wittner: The New Nuclear Arms Race and How to End It

Thu March 3 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST

Larry Wittner, prolific writer and long-time peace activist, will speak on the topic, “The New Nuclear Arms Race–and How to End It.”

Professor Wittner, longtime dedicated to disarmament action and scholarship, will help us size up our current nuclear challenges while highlighting some recent breakthrough successes — seemingly small but quite promising — from the national and international peace community. His book Confronting the Bomb: A Short History of the World Nuclear Disarmament Movement has cast an important historical framework for understanding how arms races start and how they persist, but also, vitally, how they can be reversed. Since that 2009 publication, we have seen alarming acceleration of weapons stockpiling, sometimes disguised with the slippery euphemisms of “modernization”, and sometimes brazenly marching us closer to either a catastrophic clash, or a fatal miscalculation or mistake. You can trust that Professor Wittner has a plan, even amid high geopolitical tensions, for how we can work together to effect much needed change.

Experienced advocates will appreciate the depth of Wittner’s analysis and the practicality of his recommendations, while newcomers will meet a charismatic and accessible teacher who is calling for new an creative approaches from a wide range of concerned humans! Join us on March 3 at 7:30
