Solar Gone Wrong: Solar v. Forests– A False Choice

Wed October 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Pine Barrens clear cut for solar project

In Southeast Massachusetts on the traditional territory of the Wampanoag Nation, globally rare Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens forests are being clear-cut and strip-mined to site ground-mounted industrial solar installations. Biodiversity, wetlands and waterways are being harmed. Mass Peace Action supports massive solar expansion for climate but not through the destruction of Indigenous cultural sites, globally rare ecosystems and risks to our drinking water aquifer, rivers and waterways. This webinar includes perspectives of Indigenous stewards of the land, environmentalists, and residents working for responsible solar siting and to protect our land and water. This is an important forum for all of Massachusetts.

Speaking:

John Gonzalez- Standing Bear Network

Meg Sheehan- Environmental attorney, Volunteer with Save the Pine Barrens, Inc.

Peter Crawley- Environmental Sustainability Consultant; Cambridge Climate Action Protection Committee

RegisterSponsored by Massachusetts Peace Action’s Peace and Climate Working Group and Indigenous Subgroup.  Register to attend.
