Remembering the Nagasaki Holocaust
Mon August 9 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT
Monday August 9th @ 5:00pm-6:00pm
Harvard Square MBTA entrance
Join Massachusetts Peace Action and Friends Meeting at Cambridge – Peace and Social Concerns in Harvard Square on Monday August 9th from 5:00-6:00 pm to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan. We’re raising awareness about the continuing danger to all of us from nuclear weapons, in part from Massachusetts based Raytheon Technologies.
We demand that President Biden and Congress sign on the to Nuclear Ban Treaty, pledge No First Use of Nuclear Weapons and terminate the $1.7 trillion nuclear weapons upgrade.
We will also demand that Raytheon terminate its nuclear weapons delivery production and end its relationships with Saudi Arabia and its involvement in the ongoing holocaust in Yemen.
August 9 is also the anniversary of the school bus bombing in Yemen carried out by Saudi Arabia with American planes and a Lockheed bomb. We will lay out scores of blue back-packs similar to the ones those school children were wearing when they were exterminated with our weapons.
The United States is embarked on a multi-year, $1.7 trillion project to replace the whole nuclear arsenal with enhanced weapons. This money is being spent on weapons that must never be used. This money could be spent on expansion of health care, investment in green technologies and a whole host of projects. And this money must be spent on demolishing these weapons. The time to act is now.
We have to choose between the next generation of nuclear weapons and the next generation of human beings. We choose life over weapons.
