Israeli annexation of West Bank land: Realities, dangers, and the quest for justice

We are troubled by the Israeli government’s plan to initiate annexation of a large piece of the West Bank around July 1, which is illegal under international law. How will annexation affect Palestinians? How will it affect Israel? What’s the role of the US? The UN? And how can we help secure justice for Palestinians?
is a Fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC, where she directs the New Internationalism Project, focusing on the Middle East, US wars, and UN issues. Her books include the newest edition of Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: A Primer. She was a co-founder of the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights and is a member of the board of Jewish Voice of Peace and the Afro-Middle East Center in Johannesburg.
Michel S. Moushabeck
is a writer, editor, and musician of Palestinian Arab descent, and the founder and publisher of Interlink Publishing, as well as author of Beyond the Storm: A Gulf Crisis Reader and several other books. He is the recipient of awards including the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee’s Alex Odeh award (2010) and the Palestinian Heritage Foundation Achievement Award (2011), and serves on the Board of Directors of the Media Education Foundation.
Moderator: Karen Pfeifer, contributing editor, Middle East Research and Information Project, and emeritus professor of economics, Smith College.
