On March 4, 11:30-12:30pm, Boston Area Assange Defense will gather at Park St. Station to speak out for Julian Assange and collect signatures on our petition to our senators.
February was a full month of actions calling for Julian Assange’s freedom!
At the Feb 19 ‘Rage Against the War Machine’ rally thousands of people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to end the endless wars and free the journalist who exposed the War Machine!
Two dozen speakers, from differing ideologies called for Assange’s freedom. Ann Wright, a retired US Army colonel who objected to the illegal invasion of Iraq, brought Assange activists on stage with her, shouting, “It’s time to end these goddam wars, and it’s time to Free Julian Assange!!” https://rageagainstwar.com/speeches/
On Student Press Freedom Day, February 23, Boston Area Assange Defense organized a webinar in person at the Community Church of Boston, and on Zoom to talk about the future of journalism and the case of Julian Assange.

The webinar showed this 12- minute video which outlines the Assange case, narrated by his wife, Stella Assange.

The tide seems to be slowly turning our way. On Feb 21, Harper’s Magazine published an extremely comprehensive article by Andrew Cockburn, ‘Alternative Facts: How the media failed Julian Assange’:

We thought we would have an answer from the UK High Court about whether and when they would hear Assange’s appeal of his extradition by the end of the year. Now it’s two months into 2023 and there’s still no word. The torture by endless legal process is insane, especially since Julian has never been convicted of a crime and all the crimes he has been charged with is basic common journalistic practice. Assange stuck his neck out to bring us the truth. It’s time for us to stick our necks out for him.
Let’s all resolve to do at least one thing each week to help Julian Assange. Simple things are to contact Attorney General Merrick Garland at 202-353-1555 and write Joe Biden at WhiteHouse.gov/contact.
You can also write Senator Elizabeth Warren using the form on her website: https://www.warren.senate.gov/contact/shareyouropinion
We hope you can join us Saturday, March 4 at 11:30 at Park St Station to raise our voices for Julian Assange.
Feel free to reach out with any comments or questions.
