Hiroshima/Nagasaki Commemoration at Friends Meeting at Cambridge

Sat August 6 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Hiroshima after the atomic bomb

August 6th is Hiroshima Day, marking the dropping of an atomic bomb, killing hundreds of thousands of mostly civilians and beginning the nuclear age with the ever present existential threat.

As Quakers have done for the last decade, there will be a community reading of Thomas Merton’s “Original Child Bomb” at the Quaker Meeting House (5 Longfellow Park, Cambridge) on August 6th. After the reading there will be a procession to the Charles River to float origami boats and peace cranes.  The reading starts at 6:00 and the walk to the river at 7:00.  Everyone is welcome.
