The Massachusetts Medical Society will be hosting a webinar on how the deployment of nuclear weapons would create disastrous effect on climate. In turn, climate change not only increases the likelihood of war due to competition of resources (water, air, soil) and therefore increased violence on a warming planet, but also is directly affecting vulnerable nuclear weapons sites and legacy nuclear waste from weapons development, with disproportionate health effects on local populations.
Caleb Dresser (MD, MPH) will discuss climate change, mobility, migration, and health.
Brian Toon (PhD) will discuss global famine after nuclear war.
Matt Korda will discuss the effects of climate change on legacy and current nuclear weapons development.
