HR.2456, a bill by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), will repeal the 2002 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) which authorized the war in Iraq and is still being cited by Presidents of both parties to permit combat in Somalia, Yemen, and Iran. Reps. Pressley, Kennedy, McGovern, and Clark, and 111 other House members have already cosponsored it.
HR.5543, by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), will prohibit U.S. military action against Iran without prior Congressional approval. Reps. Pressley, Kennedy, McGovern, Clark, and Moulton, and 88 other House members have cosponsored it. In June, Rep. Stephen Lynch was one of only eight House Democrats to vote against this provision. Let’s tell him and Reps. Trahan, Keating and Neal to vote yes this time!
