We invite you to Massachusetts Peace Action’s Annual Celebration

Saturday, October 15th, 4:00 – 7:00 pm

First Church in Cambridge, 11 Garden Street

The Mass Peace Action (MAPA) Board and Staff cordially invite you to join us for our annual fundraising dinner. With your support we have completed a year of intense efforts for peace and justice. We could not have done this without your membership, your volunteer time, and your donations!

You are helping to tackle urgent problems. Our militaristic foreign policy is destabilizing the world, and blocking our ability to cooperate in taking joint action on the climate emergency and the escalating dangers of nuclear war. At home, our society crumbles, as a dangerous movement threatens to derail our democracy.

As we reach MAPA’s 65th year of organizing, advocacy, and actions for a more just world, the MAPA community is delighted to welcome and support the work of newer generations of peacemakers!

2022 Peace Leadership Award

Kendra Lara, Boston City Councilor – The first person of color to represent District Six; Kendra led a Boston City Council Resolution calling for an end to the U.S. embargo on Cuba, which has been in place for 65 years. The Resolution was passed byt the City Council on July 13, 2022. Previously, Kendra was the Director of Radical Philanthropy at RESIST. She is anchored by a socialist vision and a commitment to bring the margins to the center. She exemplifies the best of a new generation of progressive political leadership in Massachusetts.

Jared HicksJared Hicks

Master of Ceremonies

In his second term on the MAPA Board, Jared shares his drive and commitment to the MAPA vision, particularly in the field of worker rights. He has contributed extensively to local union organizing, with key unions such as the Mass Nursing Union for the ‘Safe Staffing’ ballot question, with SEIU to assist Logan Airport Workers organize. He played a role in supporting the longest healthcare workers strike in Mass history, at St. Vincent’s Hospital – which ended significantly with a contract covering all their needs!
