The Poor People’s Campaign: EDUCATION TO ACTION in the Age of COVID-19

- Reverend Dr. Savina Martin, Co-Chair of the Massachusetts efforts of the Poor People’s Campaign–A National Call for Moral Revival–will provide an overview of the movement and its national reach and goals.
- Several impacted presenters will describe their experiences of the inequities in our society laid bare by the COVID-19 epidemic, reflecting on the five evils identified by the Poor People’s Campaign: Poverty, Institutional Racism, the War Economy, Ecological Devastation, and the Distorted Moral Narrative.
- There will then be small group breakout sessions around the question, “Now that I know, what can I do?
This event is hosted by the Parkway Interfaith Conversation on Race, a coalition of faith communities in Southwest Boston whose mission is to heighten awareness of issues of institutional racism in Boston and throughout society.
Parkway faith communities include Holy Name Catholic Church, the Stratford Street United Church, Temple Hillel B’nai Torah, and the Theodore Parker Unitarian Universalist Church.
