Many organizations from the U.S. peace and justice movements sent delegations to Venezuela. What they saw and experienced countered the false narrative generated by the corporate media. Speakers back from various trips are on tour currently speaking out to help prevent U.S. military intervention.
Bahman Azad is an Iranian-American peace and justice activist living in the United States. He was a former acting director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Rutgers University and is now a retired Professor of Economics and Sociology. He is a member of the National Board of the U.S. Peace Council. He is currently serving as the Chair of Veterans For Peace Iran Working Group, Organizational Secretary of the U.S. Peace Council, Coordinator of the Coalition Against U.S. Foreign Military Bases and the Global Campaign Against US/NATO Military Bases. He is Co-Chair of Iran Pledge of Resistance, and an NGO representative of the World Peace Council at the United Nations.
Jose Aleman is a high school teacher in Massachusetts and was formerly the consul general of the Salvadoran Consulate in Boston. He visited Venezuela in Nov. 2018 with the delegation sponsored by the Venezuela Solidarity Committee of Boston. Jose is also a member of the FMLN political party in El Salvador.
