Protest Textron and Cluster Bombs
July 6, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
TEXTRON is profiteering from weapons that kill innocent civilians. It is the only remaining maker of cluster bombs in the US. Currently, Textron is selling cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia, fueling a disastrous war in Yemen that has caused a humanitarian disaster. Bomblets that do not explode from initial impact act as landmines that will often kill or maim innocent civilians.
Over 100 countries have signed an international treaty banning the use of cluster munitions—the US has not signed. The US is complicit in the war crimes committed by Saudi Arabia.
Recently the House of Representatives had the opportunity to approve an amendment that would have stopped the selling of US cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia. It was shut down, and now the amendment rests in the hands of the Senate. Democratic Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed is leading the effort to continue war profiteering. Reed has ties to Textron who has been a contributor to his political campaigns. Tell Reed and other Senators that we will not tolerate violations of law and human rights so that they can profit from bombs sold to Saudi Arabia.
Protest with us! Tell Textron to stop making cluster bombs!
