St. Susanna’s Responds to 75th Anniversary of HIroshima/Nagasaki
August 6 @ 8:15 am - August 9 @ 10:00 am
St. Susanna’s in Dedham will respond to the 75th anniversary of the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings with a series of events from August 6 – 9.
On August 6 we will ring our church bells at 8:15, This will be followed by liturgical readings of the day and a live recitation of Thomas Merton’s “Original Child Bomb” at 9 am with 4 readers. This will be available live through Stephen Josoma’s Facebook page, and later at SaintSusanna.org .
Many people from the Pax Christi group have been folding peace cranes these past weeks, and tomorrow we will create a structure from which they will hang. We are attaching helium balloons to the structure, too, to loft it over an area as part of our outdoor Sunday Mass on August 9 at 8:30 am. though it will be tethered. (The masses are taped and available at the SaintSusanna.org website live and available throughout the week.)
