Refugee Symposium: Guinea, Honduras, Iraq, Kenya, Syria
February 5, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Harvard Immigration Project has our first ever symposium, with a focus on refugees.
- From 12-1 we have a fantastic keynote speaker, Suyapa Perez, a Honduran women’s rights activist who fled Honduras for her political beliefs.
- We will then have a panel from 1-3pm where we talk to refugees from several different countries (including Iraq and Syria) about their varying experiences, and how they would change the American system for asylum.
- From 3-5pm we will have a screening of Lost in Detention about immigration detention during the Obama administration, followed by a discussion with the director Rick Young.
The symposium will take place at Harvard Law School, Wasserstein Hall, Milstein West A – we’ll signpost the building well, so you can find your way! We’ll also be serving lunch at the keynote address.
