Not One Penny in Tax Cuts for Millionaires, Billionaires, and Wealthy Corporations: Regional Convening
December 2, 2017 @ 11:15 am - 5:00 pm
Northeast Regional Convening of Not One Penny
Tax Policy Presentation: Richard Phillips, Institute for Taxation and Economic Policy
The Not One Penny Team and the Massachusetts People’s Budget Campaign cordially invite you to the Northeast Regional convening of the Not One Penny campaign. This day will be filled with activists and organizers, special guests, and sessions on the policy behind the GOP tax plan and how to fight it. Our goal is for attendees to meet other organizers throughout the region, brainstorm and share ideas.
The Republican tax bill is a tax break for the rich and large corporations that will hurt working families. It will hit middle class and working class families hardest, by eliminating healthcare, programs for education and environmental protections all to line the pockets of the wealthiest families and corporations.
The Not One Penny campaign is a coalition campaign made up of more than 50 organizations, including People’s Budget, Tax March, Indivisible, Move On, Working Families Party, Americans for Tax Fairness and many more. The single-day education conference will focus on tax and how we can fight back today. It will be headlined by an economic policy expert and the keynote speaker. We are demanding not one penny in tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations. Please join us for a vibrant discussion on strategies and action items to stop handouts to the 1 percent.
The People’s Budget Campaign works to support the People’s Budget: Roadmap for the Resistance, the progressive budget proposal submitted every year by the Congressional Progressive Caucus. The People’s Budget calls for funding domestic needs, progressive taxes on upper incomes and corporations, aggressive action on climate change, and reduced military spending among many other critical issues.
The Convening will immediately follow the “Apple, Pay your Taxes” rally which starts at 10:00 am at the Apple Store, 815 Boylston Street, Boston.
There is no charge to attend the Convening, but you must pre-register at bit.ly/nop-boston. Lunch will be served to pre-registered Convening attendees.
