Massachusetts Peace Action Special Annual Meeting
April 18 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Our annual meeting scheduled for March 28, 2020 was cancelled due to coronavirus social distancing requirements. This special, abbreviated annual meeting will be convened by online conference. Please register to attend.
State Rep. Nika Elugardo will present her reflections on the Coronavirus crisis including the state and federal response and what is needed now. Elugardo defeated a powerful incumbent in 2018 to become State Representative from Jamaica Plain and nearby areas of Boston. In her first year she introduced a Build Bridges not Bombs bill with Massachusetts Peace Action, co-introduced a bill Change the State Flag and Seal (which was favorably reported from committee), and also one to remove the state prohibition on cities and towns that wish to impose rent control and/or provide tenant and foreclosure protections (H.3924).
We are pleased to introduce our Board nominees for 2020-2022. The new nominees are Yoav Elinevsky, Joseph Gerson, Keith Harvey, Jackie King, Steve Powell, and Paul Shannon; in addition, several members previously on the board are running for re-election. They will make brief statements and then we will conduct the election. (Members may nominate additional candidates up through April 16; see the Board Election Process.)
The annual meeting will also approve bylaws changes and an amendment to our articles of incorporation.
The amendment to be filed to Massachusetts Peace Action’s articles of organization is here.
Registration is required for the online meeting. When you register, you will receive by email a Zoom video/telephone access number to join the meeting. There is no charge for registration, but you must be a member of Massachusetts Peace Action to vote. Pay your 2020 membership dues.
