The End of the Myth: Greg Grandin
October 4 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Author and professor Greg Grandin will join us via Skype on Friday October 4th at 7 PM for a discussion of his latest book, The End of the Myth: From the Frontier to the Border Wall in the Mind of America.
This timely book explores the effect that constant expansion has had on the politics of the United States, from the Colonial period to today. Now that the frontier is shut and overseas wars are failing, racism, nationalism, anger, and polarization have come home, catapulting Trump to the presidency and dividing the nation.
Massachusetts Peace Action members read and discussed the book this summer in a “Common Read“. Common Readers, members, and the public are invited to join our discussion with Greg Grandin.
Greg Grandin is the author of many books including Empire of Necessity, Fordlandia, Empire’s Workshop, The Last Colonial Massacre, and Kissinger’s Shadowto name a few. After many years teaching at New York University he recently joined the Department of History at Yale University. He has also served on the United Nations Truth Commission investigating the Guatemalan civil war. He has written for The Nation, the London Review of Books, and The New York Times.
