Imagine being evicted during a pandemic… MetroWest neighbors need our help!
December 20, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Sunday, Dec. 20, 3-5 pm via Zoom and Facebook Live! Sign up here.
There’s a growing eviction and housing crisis facing MetroWest’s Immigrant population. Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, our local immigrant communities have suffered loss of work, leading to food, healthcare and housing insecurity. State and Federal pandemic relief programs have been inaccessible and insufficient. Massachusetts ended its eviction moratorium in October, unleashing scores of attempted evictions—legal and illegal. And the stopgap Federal eviction moratorium is set to expire December 31.
With COVID cases skyrocketing, and area housing/shelter opportunities shrinking, many immigrants turn to already overcrowded apartments and shelters, threatening to increase COVID cases among a population already hit hard by the pandemic. And many have NO access to other resources.
We can help, but we must act now. Join us to demand state legislators: (1) reinstate the eviction moratorium, (2) guarantee housing for all those most affected by the pandemic, and (3) ensure the protection of all those driven into the shadows by fear of law enforcement and ICE.
And, for the many facing eviction today who can’t wait for the legislature to act, we must provide emergency housing, food, funds and expert support.
Join us on Sunday, December 20, from 3-5 pm on Zoom and Facebook Live to learn more and take direct immediate action to address this crisis head-on! Sign up to join the action.
MetroWest Emergency Housing Coalition, a coalition of progressive action groups including MetroWest Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), MetroWest Our Revolution, 350 Mass Action MetroWest, and the MetroWest Immigration Solidarity Network (MISN), are hosting this online action event.
