SUMMARY:The Voice of Hind Rajab
DESCRIPTION:January 29\, 2024. Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A 5-year-old girl is trapped in a car under fire in Gaza\, pleading for rescue. While trying to keep her on the line\, they do everything they can to get an ambulance to her. Her name was Hind Rajab. \n\nThe Voice of Hind Rajab exposes the devastating reality of what it means to be a child in Gaza\, living under constant threat\, having your humanity questioned\, and being left unprotected. \nFollowing a critically acclaimed premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2025\, a global theatrical release\, and nominations for the Academy Awards and BAFTAs\, the film has ignited global awareness and outrage. \nThis is not just another story from Gaza. It’s a call for justice and accountability. \n\nFree but RSVP required.  RSVP at: bit.ly/hindcambridge \nIf you are not familiar with the venue\, see these directions.  The Parish Hall is located in a modern office / condo building next to St James Church. https://masspeaceaction.org/directions-to-st-james-parish-hall/

SUMMARY:Justice 4 All Thursdays
DESCRIPTION:Via Turn Purple 2 Blue:\n\nGreater Assabet Indivisible Network (GAIN) invites you to stand in solidarity with immigrants and resistance to ICE and their cruel and lawless detention of our neighbors Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Regardless of any other political views\, you are welcome to join us and demand Justice 4 All so long as you do so non-violently. \nOur friends at Bearing Witness have been hosting gatherings at this location for many weeks. We are an unaffiliated group\, but very much aligned with their values and mission. Our goal is to add to the total number of hours that citizens stand in non-violent opposition to the deplorable detainment conditions at this location. If you have been to Bearing Witness on Wednesdays\, we would love to have you at Justice 4 All Thursdays. \nSchedule (Starting Thursday\, September 4 – more dates to follow) \n11:00-11:30 Welcome; music; announcements\n11:30-12:30 Stand with signs along District Ave\n12:30-1:00 Optional short march down to Mall Rd. \nWhat happens at this ICE office? \nICE personnel depart from District Ave. in unmarked vans with tinted windows on missions to abduct immigrants across New England. Immigrants may also show up at the office for appointments. The facility on District Ave was never intended to be a detention center\, yet immigration lawyers and media interviews reveal that people are now being housed here in conditions that have been called “abysmal” and “unsanitary.” \nWhat to expect at Justice 4 All? \nWe are committed to nonviolence\, and we stand peacefully with signs outside the facility. We do not block the entrance\, we do not physically approach ICE agents as they walk to/from the parking lot\, and we do not block traffic on District Ave. \nSigns \nThis is a very targeted action outside the ICE facility\, so it’s not the venue for protesting other causes. Even though we care deeply about other issues\, while outside ICE we must remain focused on immigration.  \nParking and other tips \nFor parking\, please use the Macy’s overflow lot (75 Burlington Mall Road\, follow signs for Macy’s\, see map). For those with mobility challenges\, please keep in mind that the lots closest to ICE — the FAA lot beside ICE and the BAE Systems lot directly across the street from ICE — have both been blocked off. There are restaurants nearby (Clover\, Pressed Cafe\, Chipotle) to get food and use the bathroom. Before arriving\, please consider your own self-preservation (citizenship status) and self-care (sunscreen\, hydration\, etc.)

SUMMARY:Still\, Minab: Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:On February 28\, 2026\, during the initial hours of the US-Israeli war on Iran\, the U.S. carried out a triple-tap strike on the Shajareye Tayebe School in Minab\, Iran. The targeted strikes claimed the lives of one hundred and sixty eight civilians\, most of them elementary-school-aged children. Within minutes of the strikes on the school\, the U.S. struck the nearest medical center and emergency facility. Three months on\, there has been zero transparency or accountability from the U.S. military. In the immediate aftermath of the strikes\, in what is by now an all too familiar pattern\, the U.S. administration and Western media sought to disseminate disinformation and create confusion to obscure U.S. cuplability. \nThe docuseries “Still\, Minab” counters these narratives by centering the voices of families impacted by this act of imperial violence\, offering English-speaking audiences a rare firsthand account of the tragedy. We invite you to join us for a screening\, introduced by the series’ creator and narrator\, Dr. Helyeh Doutaghi. \nDr Helyeh Doutaghi\nDr. Helyeh Doutaghi is a scholar of international law and geopolitical economy. Her research explores the intersections of Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL)\, encompassing Marxian and postcolonial critiques of law\, sanctions\, and international political economy\, as well as International Humanitarian Law (IHL)\, particularly in the context of the US military. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Tehran. \nSee directions to the St James Church parish hall if you are going there for the first time!
