Block the Sale! Stop $650 million in Raytheon Missiles to Saudi Arabia.

Mon November 29 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

Monday November 29th

7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Joe Biden pledged to stop U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia. Now he’s selling them missiles and missile launchers made by Raytheon Technologies. We have a unique opportunity to oppose this sale and expose clear hypocrisy in our system. Join us to find out how!

As early as Tuesday, November 30th every US Senator will vote on whether they support or oppose this weapons deal. Join us on Monday, November 29th at 7 pm to hear from Dr. Aisha Jumaan and Raed McCracken Jarrar on the conditions in Yemen and the importance of stopping these sales.

Dr. Aisha Jumaan is the President of the Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Fund, an organization that raises awareness of the humanitarian crises underway in Yemen, supports relief and reconstruction efforts, and facilitates campaigns to bring peace to the country. She is recently returned from a visit to Yemen. With over 30 years of experience in public health Aisha is currently working with as an Independent Consultant coordinating health-related projects in Yemen.

She was with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 13 years. She previously also served as an Assistant Professor at the Rollins School of Public Health, Epidemiology Department at Emory University. Aisha also worked in her native home, Yemen, with UNFPA and UNDP.

Raed McCracken Jarrar is the Advocacy Director for Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN), the non-profit founded by journalist and Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi.

Widely recognized as an expert on political, social, and economic developments in the MENA region, he has testified in numerous Congressional hearings and briefings. He is a frequent guest on national and international media outlets in Arabic and English, including CNN, MSNBC, NPR, the BBC, Al Jazeera, and Sky News Arabia. He has been published in the New York Times and quoted in media outlets including the Washington Post, Al Jazeera, the Hill, the Guardian, Newsweek, and more.

The Biden Administration’s approval of $650 million worth of Raytheon air-to-air missiles is a betrayal of President Biden’s promise to stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia during its war on Yemen. The war and blockade have created manmade famine and disease, the world’s worst humanitarian crisis according to the U.N.

While the State Department and the Pentagon are classifying these weapons as “defensive” in nature, the difference between offensive and defensive weapons depends on how you use them. These missiles have very clear offensive uses. The blockade of Yemen isn’t just by sea, it’s an air blockade as well. These missiles can be used to shoot down aircraft flying into Yemen, including planes carrying food, medicine, and other humanitarian aid.

During his campaign President Joe Biden said he would make Saudi Arabia “pay the price, and make them in fact the pariah that they are,” and that there was “very little social redeeming value in the present government in Saudi Arabia.”

Do you sell pariahs missile launchers?  Prominent Democratic Senators are buying into this false narrative from the White House. It’s time to find out who the real champions on Yemen are. Join us on Monday November 29th to find out how you can make an impact!
