Massachusetts Peace Action is proud to endorse two progressive candidates for the State Legislature Special Elections, scheduled on June 2, 2020. We support Carol Doherty  in the 3rd Bristol district Danillo Sena in the 37th Middlesex .

Carol Doherty (3rd Bristol – Taunton, Easton area) is on the Taunton School Committee and comes to public service from an extensive background in education. At various times, she’s been a teacher, guidance counselor, and president of the Mass Teachers Association. As MTA President she supported the publication of the Mass Jobs with Peace Budget, calling for a cut Pentagon spending and transferring the funds to public education. She worked at Northeastern University to connect her university’s resources with local school districts. Her platform is centered on fully-funding public education, clean energy, protecting the environment, increasing funding for public transportation, accessible, affordable health care, and more. Carol is running against Republican Kelly Dooner.   More info and to support

Danillo Sena (37th Middlesex – Shirley, Acton, Lunenburg) is running against Republican Catherine Clark.  Sena was previously Chief of Staff for State Senator James Eldridge, a close ally of Mass. Peace Action, who has also endorsed Sena. Sena, a Dreamer, would be the first Brazilian immigrant to represent Middlesex’s 37th district. Sena is a strong progressive who is committed to Medicare-for-All and 100% renewable energy. He has worked with Senator Eldridge to expand and protect immigrant rights. Sena has also signed on to Act on Mass’s pledge to increase transparency in our state legislature — a necessary issue in Massachusetts.    More info and to support
