Call Congress No War w Iran, Repeal 2002 AUMF Call Congress No War w Iran, Repeal 2002 AUMF

The U.S. House of Representatives will be voting this Thursday on whether to block funding for an unauthorized war with Iran AND repeal the 2002 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF).

! These VOTES are HUGE!

We have the opportunity to block Trump’s march to war with Iran and beyond by pushing Congress to pass these two critical pieces of legislation.

Call your U.S. Representative and ask him or her to block funding for an unauthorized war with Iran AND repeal the 2002 AUMF now!  Congressional Switchboard: 202-224-3121′

HR.2456, a bill by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), will repeal the 2002 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) which authorized the war in Iraq and is still being cited by Presidents of both parties to permit combat in Somalia, Yemen, and Iran.   Reps. Pressley, Kennedy, McGovern, and Clark, and 111 other House members have already cosponsored it.

HR.5543, by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), will prohibit U.S. military action against Iran without prior Congressional approval.  Reps. Pressley, Kennedy, McGovern, Clark, and Moulton, and 88 other House members have cosponsored it.  In June, Rep. Stephen Lynch was one of only eight House Democrats to vote against this provision.  Let’s tell him and Reps. Trahan, Keating and Neal to vote yes this time!

(To avoid a procedural snafu, these two bills will be voted on as amendments to a noncontroversial bill already passed by the Senate.)
